An excellent question.

Hi all. So this is my first time here :wave_1: , and I was wondering (while trying my hand at buying aftermarket parts for a kit, namely Tamiya's 1/700 Mikuma) if there were any 1/700 Type 89 12.7 cms with an anti-wave shield? Because, although Fine Molds and Veteran both have really good offerings, they aren't really accurate. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

The Pit-Road NE03 set has the correct wave shields (Type A1) but, be advised, each set only comes with two, IIRC.

Cool thanks, I'll have to look into that one. Too bad their so pricey for what you get.

Also, has anyone seen or does anyone have the Ocean Spirit HO96 set? I can't tell if it is just PE detail for other Type 89s, or if it is its own set. If so, it might be better than the Pit Road set based on price alone.

I can check on it when I get home, but I am almost 100% positive Ocean Spirit is a complete set - resin, PE and brass.

That's good, because they are WAAAYY cheaper than the Pit road set, and look just as good.

3DModelParts make some serviceable weapons, and they are inexpensive, and best of all, made in US:
