The emperor's new samurai

Post by Gabor »

Hello,

I would like to enter the contest with my latest work. This is the IJN Kongo in 1/700 scale from the Kajika.
It's an excellent kit with good fittings and nice details. The building and painting went without problem. The only difficulty I met was the PE set. I think it's made of a slightly soft material, so it's easy to damage the parts when you cut or bend them. Furthermore there are no spare parts, thus you have to replace the damaged parts from generic sets.
The "water" is white Pattex glue which is painted with blue, green and white. After drying I applied a thin coat of Vallejo transparent water texture to give a more realistic look for the water.
The additional items, boarding ladder, clothes, barrels, boxes and cargo net, are from the Five Star Model. The fishing boat is from the Rainbow Model and the supply barge is scratchbuilt.
The crew is "recruited" from the Shelf Oddity.
Why is she the emperor's new samurai? Kongo was the most modern ship of the IJN in 1914.
