WIP on the old 1/192 scale UPC Cutty Sark..this was a knock off of the Revell 1/96 scale cutty Sark reduced to I/192...Still had the figurehead in 1/96! Ive replaced the masts and bowspit with turned basswood.. Starting her running rigging and fitting of custom made cloth sails..

cutty as of 07-20-08 lifts and falls for mizzen znd main masts complete.. sail handling tackle for lower yards in as well..now on to foot ropes and braces for these mast...will add upper ratlines after most rigging is on as they only get in the way.. will do foremast last

Very nice.

Are the sails from the kit or are you using something else?

making my own from a fine thread count linen..the clewed up mizzen gaff and unfurled jib are doubled up heavy gauge aluminum foil. they are all dry brushed with pastels.. she will be carrying deployed stud sails on her fore and main mast.. depicting her as in the roaring 40s under Capt Thomas Woolgate..following seas with a good blow ..conditions in which she could leave hull down any sailing ship of her day .. In fact up until the 1980s I doubt anything under sail could keep up with her in those conditions..cheers
