What-If...Save those battle and time damaged hulls for conversions

Here,s a great what if? Do you have a couple of GERMAN, FRENCH or WASHINGTON/NORTH CAROLINA hulls around that can,t be rebuilt into warships? I have over the years created a whole fleet of what if ?, tankers,freighters and cruise liners on these hulls.You can,t use the MISSOURI or NEW JERSEY hulls because of that bow they have. The rest are open to a lot.I even did one some years back, based on the WASHINGTON and converted that hull to a what if? very fast attack carrier,And boy did she look neat. A lot of what if? is a matter of logical progression of design,right?If anyone thinks I am a couple bricks shy, don,t laugh! When you grow up poor(Well,nearly so)If you wanted a model,you couldn,t buy one You just salvaged a neighbor,s thrown out ones.think about it. commodore4

Considering what was done to a Yamato to turn it into a CV, I could imagine seeing the same done to an Iowa - she might not look too bad with a gun tub on the end of her bow and a flight deck a deck or two above the weather top with some hangar space in there.

An Iowa conversion would be kinda easy. All you need is a Tamiya Iowa, and a DML Essex and go to town! The only real difference from the drawings anyway, is the hull.

Not sure about plastic or resin, but in my internet travels looking for information for never-were US Navy designs I came across this:

Apparently there are 1/1200 and 1/1250 scale models of some of these designs out there in white metal.

I'd like to try to make some of these designs in plastic and I am trying to collect references and resources for this purpose. If anybody knows of any sources for some of the battlecruiser, battleship and various heavy cruiser designs the US Navy bounced around in the late 1920's and 1930's please PM me.
