Hi Guys and Lady,s, Its been along 2 years since we were in class, :heh: :heh: it seems you have all learnt alot while I have been away, so its going to be a learning curve for me and all that join the class.

USS HELENA is one of the banner ships of this site, I have wanted to build it for some time now, it will be built in 1/96 scale and will be radio controled, most of the build will be scratch built except for some armourments and P/E.

This is what she will look like.

Imagine me as some street urchin in an assembled multitude, hanging over the ballustrade of the slipway, waving their 3-pence caps and bonnets and howling "Rule Britannia" towards the Admiral laying down the keel...

Well Guys, It looks as though the class room is filling up, the fee,s this year have trebled, 3 x 0 =0, :heh: , but we have a slight delay, that TommyL has been slacking, he has not cleared the other side of the slipway, is tommy sleeping at the back of the class.

I am trying to introduce some fun into the build, thats what modelling is about, fun, fun, and more fun, :woo_hoo: :woo_hoo:

Ron,

I am a cruiser nut so you have my full attention!

I have the original construction blueprints for the triple 6"/47 turrets (from the USS Cleveland CL-55, which I think are the same as the Helena). They are in PDF format. If you want them, contact me at:

Nice to see it started Ron,
at first I was a little affraid your Iron Duke would be below that stuff! :heh: :heh:
I won't be here for a few months again soon, but I'll be happy to see the evolution afterwards! I'm sure there will be lots to learn from it.

Early spring modelling classes have started...

Just returned from Libya coast escorting liners with foreigners that left the country. If I have to go back there in order to see progress just let me know...

I have been waiting for this one for a long time. Good to see the slipway cleared for the Helena.

Hi Everyone, The build will be taken from my Profile Morskie USS HELENA, also from the drawings and photo,s from our good friend Bill Clarke in the USA, he bought over some top quality photo,s of Helena and also some of St Louis from the photo archives.

Dave W had the drawings enlarged to 1/96, 2 copies of each, you will see them soon on the wall in the drydock.

Lastly I have to thank every one on the board for there good wish,s it has spared me on to make a start now the weather is picking up here in the U/K. :wave_1: :wave_1:
