Mike Cavel has finished his 1/350 model of the USS Half Moon AVP-26! It is a wonderful build!

Mike used the Iron Shipwrights, Inc. USS Mackinac AVP-13 kit as the foundation for this build and the Back-Aft Models AVPs 25-26 Conversion Set with the Waterlined Hull.

Nice paint & a nice "lite" weathering. It's got a sweet look.

If you dont mind, what paint did you use?
And how did ya do the weathering? I really like it.

Paul,

I'm glad that you like my model! Thank you.

I used LifeColor Acrylics Navy Blue 5-N and Deck Blue 20-B and a dusting of light gray and white pastel chalk after the final flat clear coat.

Coming soon from Back-Aft Models. Custom waterline hull for USCG 311' Cutters.

The USS Barnegat class AVPs that went to the USCG had towing rails installed around their fantails. They also had special, large towing bitts and a special towing capstan on the fantail.

Above was the master with Krystal Klear in between the stanchions, filling these gaps so that the rubber mold wouldn't trap the master inside.

Below is the first casting with the towing rail and the thin resin film between the stanchions.

The second photo, below, is with half of the towing rail's thin resin film removed.

I'm very, happy with the results of the casting. :woo_hoo:

I added a two-bar rail from the ISW PE fret that fits well around the Towing Rail.

Carl I think your grandson might be on to something with that camo pattern!! The ship almost completely disappears into the desk top mat! :wave_1:

Your detail has always blown me out of the water. (No pun intended)
Maybe some day my brain and fingers will get on the same page, but until then I'm going to keep following these threads.
