The photos for both kits in the Trumpy catalogue indicate WWII fit. Of course, they may not have done their research (shocking!), and just posted the first photo they Googled up.

IJN tanker Shioya in 1/700th from Pit Road. A polystyrene alternative to the resin Niko kit.
Having read the machine translation, I didn't learn much else about the kit

As Timmy still wrote, both will be WW-2 outfit.kylewoody wrote:No idea as of yet but I'm watching/listening closely. I was an inch away from starting a scratchbuild on BB35, so hopefully this will keep me from making a mess of plastic if I can wait.REALLY hope they do one in WWI fit, another in WW2 fit. Would make sense to me...

If they're both gonna be WWI, I might as well start scratching now instead of waiting. Superstructure, cage masts, AA (or lack of), bilge additions, etc etc. all different...
Kyle
I agree with you that such a difference will make sense, but is much unlikely in my opinion.

It will be interesting to see the sprue photos of the West Virginia. The painting on the Trumpeter website, which I assume to be the box top, shows the large bluge as on the Maryland. West Virginia 1941 never received the refit for the bluge. Also, there were a few differences in the forward superstructure decks between the West Virginia and Maryland. The old Waveline/Highmold kits missed the bluge on the Maryland, but did pick up the superstructure differences.

Re: *Inj. molded plastic* Upcoming Ship Kit Releases
Many months, perhaps a year or two ago, there was a photo of a completed Trumpeter/Pit-Road 1941 Big-5 without the bulges that are in the Maryland kit - many suspected that it was West Virginia, and all had been hoping that this "correct" version would come out. It seems it finally has/will.

Has anyone compared the Maryland hull to the !944 Colorado hull? So far as I have been able to determine from posted kit pics they have the same bulges. The 1944 Colorado has yet to reach these shores so the waiting continues.

Timmy, I do remember the photo of the model sometime ago that everyone thought might be the Trumpeter West Virginia. Thanks for jogging my memory. I hope that was a test shot and they do the hull without the bulge; however, their box art sure has it wrong.
Steve, I have the Pit Road Colorado 1944 and it as the same hull and bulge as the Maryland 1941 kit.

Ok, I know this site has been on blast a bit BUT - is there any insight here as to our greatly anticipated New York class BBs?

It's a May pre order release date on the site. Does that mean I could have this baby in my hands by June?!

this photo shows the hull of West Virginia without the bulge.
I saw some photos of the Tennessee class and Colorado Class BB before Pearl Harbor Attack
has no bulge except Maryland. I'm not clear that the Maryland has or has not has a bulge
during the attack!

Re: *Inj. molded plastic* Upcoming Ship Kit Releases
I would be downright shocked if the Trumpeter West Virginia lacked the bulge present on the hull (which, funny enough, is for the USS Colorado. Read the little bit of letting inside the hull!) The retooling costs to remove said bulge will not be unsubstantial. Still, it would be nice to be pleasantly surprised by Trumpeter. I'd definitely get myself a set of BRM cage masts and either the BRM or Five Star PE to outfit her in that case!Caesar Ho wrote:this photo shows the hull of West Virginia without the bulge.

USS Maryland should still appear almost flush like her unmodified sisters. Some have modified her, others have not. I chose not to, mainly out of fear of ruining a 30 dollar kit.

Re: *Inj. molded plastic* Upcoming Ship Kit Releases
Hi...
I have seen Trumpeter announced a 1/200 CV-6 Enterprise in what looks like a 1944 camo. I hope they get it right...with the bulge on the starboard side. IMHO they should have done it in 1/350, I saw the 1/200 Hornet in flesh in Nrnberg and it's simply too big for me
BTW...has anybody heard of a possible 1/350 Atlanta class? I personally like those cruisers very much, they look the the logical big brother of Gearing and co...Or maybe on Oakland class, also very fine looking ships!
cheers
Uwe

Dragon has a 1/350 Atlanta. It was already pointed out at this other thread (link).

Cheers Bob; one can't have too many auxiliaries and support vessels.
