Hello, some update here, more PE work.

Not sure what it is, should be some small crane i think.
Image

1st 2 stairs, Not sure whether i did it correctly or not, but i think is ok for 1st timer right?

The aircraft crane. 2 hours of focus, worth the effort.

Looks sharp!

The first photo of the "small cranes" is training/practice loaders for the 5"/38 guns.

Very nice PE-work!
The "rails that hold the aircraft" are in fact the catapults which serve to launch the aircraft from the ship, but probably you knew this. They look very good indeed!

Thanks alot for the input, honestly, I only started to have interest on Navy lately, have very little knowledge on ships and their parts and terms. Very grateful for the correction from you guys. :woo_hoo:

Enjoying this build. I have a question about the PE panels that are added to the vertical structure. Where the top edges meet the horizontal edges do you need to do any filling for a smooth transition? Same for the tops of the turrets where they meet the vertical sides. I'm wondering how you go about making a seamless transition so it doesn't look like a plate and more like it's part of the structure. Looking at the photos everything looks great to me. But I know how photos can be different than when you're the builder. I hope that made sense and looking forward to your thoughts.

Hello, there is no way to avoid the the gap without any filling, what i did is when i stick the PE, i apply the superglue near the edge, then after stick on the plate, apply liquid superglue around the edge and let it sip in. But till now, cant really tell is the gap is still there without priming. Hope I answered your question.

Yes, that's what I figured would be required. Have you tried using PVA or other water based filler to smooth the edges?
Thanks!
Dave

Haven't try anything else yet, will try what you suggested too because if superglue went wrong is quite a mess and hard to revert it back. Thanks for your suggestion ya.

Not sure how good a suggestion it is. I haven't tried it on something like this yet but am facing a similar project. Was also thinking about using a water based putty like Perfect Plastic Putty. Looking forward to more updates. Love what you've done!

The small "cranes" are practice loading machines for the 5"38's. Two so you can get some competition going, we specially with the marines.

Truly OUTSTANDING work, your PE is really clean. Hard to believe that your only on your second ship. Keep up the great work, I'll be following this one for sure as I have the same kit and PE in the stash for a later build.

The PE single AA gun stand are flat, not like that much. I cut off the plastic AA gun and replace the gun to the plastic stand.

That's awesome work, mate, I had a hard enough time doing the kit 20mms for Tamyia's 1/350 version!

Hello, some update here, single AA gun done, plastic ammo box and barrier replace with PE. Not really nice work on the PE ammo box, screwed up a few, not really neat.

I am amazed at how you got some of the molded on detailing removed without messing up the deck detailing. How did you do that?

Hi, Im using this. place the blade 180 degree flat and slice it through. The blade is sharp enough to cut through without forcing too much and damage the deck. Same method i use to remove the mold in stairs.

Hello, Finally have time to update my build. Sorry for picture heavy.

Railing PE added, superstructure primed.
Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Hull red on, deck and superstructure glued, railing on the deck glued.
Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Masked up to the waterline, AS-16 Light grey on and start masking the sexy camo.
Image

Image

Image

So sorry, forgot to take photos of 2nd and 3rd stage of the hull camo process. These are the outcome.
Image

Image

Due to some grey sip through the masking and stained the waterline, I respray it, mask the full hull and start working on the superstructure camo. Some photos forgotten during the progress.
Image

Image

Image

Image

Camo of the superstructure done. Some touch up is needed. Finally relieved. Hopefully not too bad for this 2nd ship.

Thats all for now. Next will be the deck. Thanks for the time. All comment are welcome. Have a great day ahead. :woo_hoo:
