Hi friends. Now, when summer arrives it is difficult to find enough time to keep working on the ship.
Anyway, i have found that time and i have been working in the hangar.

I have finished the decals for the whole hangar, and i will start to fit them.

Here are the firewall doors between hangar zones 2 and 3

And the first decals fitted in place

That´s all for the moment. Thanks for viewing

Hi everyone, I'm new on this forum. :wave_1:
Dear Jaguar, amazing ship, very nice job :thumbs_up_1:
I'm desperate, I'd like to create a 3D model of Nimitz class aircraft carrier in Autocad/3ds Max, but the problem is that I need reference drawings and plans, the hull profiles in different sections, ped eyes grid system position, flying deck and hangar deck details. On google i found some blueprints, but it's not enought to create a good hull profile etc. CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE? WHEN I CAN GET PLANS OF NIMITZ CLASS? CAN YOU PROVIDE ME THEM?

You can order the plans from http://www.taubmansonline.com/. Product ID: ANB-1616 I don't believe they have the sectionals, but check with them. And here: http://www.bestshipmodels.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14&products_id=47 And of course FDD: http://floatingdrydock.com/MasterPlan.htm

Padeyes are spaced every six feet and each row is offset. The run fore to aft parallel to the CL. Around hatches and things they generally follow the outline of that hatch, but not on the hatch. I would use Google or Bing and pull up lots and lots of pictures. There are CD's available with thousands of pics on them. Also, if you go to http://www.turbosquid.com they have the Nimitz already rendered in .3ds. I have the hull sections for my America, but the Nimitz hull is very different Also check with the National Archives. I'm sure Jorge can hook you up and tell you where he got them from, he's a good guy.

Turbosquid.com has many, many carriers and even has a really good cut away one: http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/uss-reagan-cutaway-aircraft-carrier-3d-obj/760262 for a grand. There are other carriers too. If you get Google's "Sketchup Make" program which is free, in the "3D Warehouse" there are several different complete carriers in full scale. I have downloaded a few myself and they are pretty cool. But low res and hence free. The ones from TS are expensive, but very hi res. Many polygons. They also have all of the aircraft and the deck gear and even crewmen.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

P.S. I am doing a lot of 3D modeling for my carrier the America, also in this forum.

Hello Snake. I think that Micahel has answered you perfectly. I got my plans from http://www.bestshipmodels.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14&products_id=47, but some parts were not accurate as i needed. These plans also have some errors that have to be corrected with a lot of pictures. I bought from floating drydock two DVD,s with photos of the Nimitz in her early days and also in her present days.
I think that you can buy better plans in http://floatingdrydock.com/MasterPlan.htm.

Sorry for my delayed answer but i was on holidays until yesterday   . Now i am back at work :heh:

Jorge

Great work Jorge! Very inspiring!. Have a fun holiday?

America only has two hanger bays, not three like the Nimitz and I think the Enterprise has three too?

I have to make that cage area, but on the America, it is just aft of the mid bay fire doors on the starboard side.

I remember making hundreds of those oxygen and acetylene cylinders for my uncles ship.

Outstanding work..

Thank you Neptune.

Dear friends, i think it's time to change a little bit, and focus in the airwing of the carrier.
I have decided to start working on my favourite plane, the F-14. Currently i am working in a master for, later, make as much resin copies as i need. I know that in 2003 she did not embark any f-14, but i can't resist the tentation to add some of these planes on her.

here is the construction process of the master.

Hello friends:

I finished the master for the F-14, but as mclare said to me, i put the wings in supersonic mode instead of parking mode. So i corrected the position on the wings and made the first resin copy. Currently it is almost finished, waiting for the details, wheels, decals and so on.
I have also prepared the masters for the missiles, ready for making esin copies.

Yeah, unbelieveable! Makes me feel like I'm cheating 3D printing them. But I don't have your Mad skillz!

Wow!

And yeah, I would back-date your build to the last Tomcat Cruise just to have those on my deck!

I totally missed this WIP! The rest of us who have built or are building carriers just got spanked. Hard. :thumbs_up_1: :woo_hoo:
