uss hornet cvs 12 (or kearsarge..) 1:1200

Post by matteo reich »

good morning to everyone here! I'm a youngster newbie and I'm italian :wave_1: . My real passion is model railroading in N scale, but since I was child I always liked ships. By now here is my new building: the original project was to build the uss Antietam as she appeared with experimental angled deck, but then I changed my mind and I decided to rebuild it as a SCB125a ship :woo_hoo: .
The hull is built using 0.60 thou balsa sheet, cutted and sanded. the bow has the knuckles on her sides made with thin copper
wire, then I puttied it with grey tamiya and sanded.
The flight deck is made using thin cardboard from a cereal box :heh:.
Hope you enjoy :thumbs_up_1: :wave_1:

As a fan of these ships just about my whole life, I like what I'm seeing so far. Looking forward to what's to come!

hey there! :wave_1: happy you liked it!!
by now I made some progress on this ship. I built the island structure (balsa, styrene, cardboard, thing cotton wire soaked in CA), and I completed it with antenna masts (steel wire, a pin...).
Then I moved on the hull. I fixed the flight deck using white glue, then I soaked the cardboard using CA. The deck-edged elevators where completed with rails, made with cardboard. Under the angled deck I built the supports, using paper and cardboard.
by now I spent about 6 $ (5) in this building :woo_hoo: so it's affordable for everyone who loves carriers :thumbs_up_1: [imgblob:https%3A//mail.google.com/782bbae6-3b72-4100-978c-f08541f8673f][/img]
