Starting to build HMS Rodney.
I cleaned up the hull and painted the deck.
One small problem with prop shaft outlets in the hull.
The shaft is much smaller that the hole. There is no cap or cone to cover that
transition. You will have to create something.
I painted the deck with Tamyia XF37 Buff color and went over that with a black wash.
The deck was a perfect fit on the hull !

Some of the barrels may need the hole for the shaft opened
up with your #11 exact blade.

Step #6

Some confusion...
Build 4 turrets.
Then take two turrets and add a life raft on top.
Then take two more of the 4 turrets and add a life raft on top.
then make two left handed turrets with ladders and finally two turrets with r/h
with ladders.

A total of 4.

I ran into some problems. Maybe it is just me in one case.
I painted the camp pattern on the hull. A lot of work.
Anyway when it was done I did not like it at all. Just too confusing at this scale.
On the real ship the ship would always dominate the visual/

So I painted the hull great again.
I use automotive grey primer and it matches the grey plastic perfectly.

Then I moved onto the #2 turret vents.
The vents fit into pockets on the deck but they do not fit up against the turret base.
You could lean then inward but it just looks sloppy.
I will have to fix that problem

It's almost as though there's supposed to be a gap between the vent and the barbette...

Just to add to what Timmy has shown, Hood also has gaps between her vents and barbettes although they look smaller than the photos of Nelson/Rodney shown by Timmy....

Speaking of corrections... In the previous post I wrote " So I painted the hull grey again."
Not "So I painted the hull great again." Like " Make America great again" Hmmmm

If you cannot find parts (3) #F 42 chain guides on the bow.

#42 comes before #1 on the F sprue.

Not sure what exact timeframe you are modelling Rodney in?

Step#26
Part #D 20 to H 20.
If you have trouble getting these parts to fit together, what I did was file with a sanding stick
the top edge of H 20 a bevel edge, then the parts fit together. They are oval.

Read tripod Page 30 of the instruction manual.

Illustration shows two guns mounted in the upper tripod platform.
But you cannot find Q4 . They were used on the main bridge tower already.

On page #2 it shows construction of these guns? It has 4 barrels stacked vertically.
Instructions say "Make two."

But you need 4 of these for the model.

Go to Sprue F and you find the other two guns.

A note on page 36 of the instructions.

The two storage boxes ( J17) Do not have holes or corresponding pins cast in.
You will just need to hang loose until the end to find out where to locate these boxes.

On page 34 or step 34 it shows some kind of antenna thing.
I will try to post a good photo of what it is supposed to look like.

One more note: Sprue H two of them, H17 parts and one is missing.
It could just be my kit. The posts on the sprue are there for part, #17 but no part.
Could be a manufacturing problem. It is a life boat chock . but you can easily make one.
It won't show if there is a boat on top of it.

I found the two parts I thought were missing (G8) .
They were in a box that I was keeping on the side for parts that fell
off of the spures during construction.

OOPS Sorry.

I finished this model.
Some photos.
I built the base with African Mahogany.
I also built the display case. My wife helped me.
Railings are on.

Impressive result! Love the base as well. And that last, finishing step, went quite fast!
