Same problem for Nevada class ships yet there appears to be some demand for superstructures. I hope so. The New Mexico turrets have been selling. It should be pointed out that the Nevada class twin turrets, despite much hype for them, have not been selling certainly because there are so few kits to put them on.

Superstructures are a lot of work for not a lot of revenue (too many have been done at a huge loss). Turrets and directors do far, far better. From a business perspective, the superstructure design(s) for the New Mexico class will be extremely high effort-high risk, as are the pending Nevada class superstructures, which is why none of them have been a high priority in the project queue, pushed back in favor of designs with much better sales potential.

Having said all that, there have been several New Mexico class models produced in 1/700 scale, some relatively recently:
https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?f ... New+Mexico

Perhaps there are enough of those kits still around to justify the design(s).

If I am wrong, please say so now. I'd much rather kill a doomed big-effort, costly design project before I start research than find out only too late there is no market for it.
Have fun, Monkey around. TM

If I knew where to get a hold of one of the Blue Ridge or Midship kits, I can almost guarantee I'd buy a superstructure set. If it helps any, my preferences would be:

1) MS pre-war
2) ID late war
3) MS late-war
4) MS post-war/ AG-128

Most of these kits, including the HP and Blue Ridge ones are out of production, so thats why I suggested using and modifying the hulls of the Trumpeter Colorado/Tennessee class kits and Hobby Boss Arizona kits.

Freetime Hobbies already exhausted its supply of Blue Ridge battleship kits.

Hopefully, many will take your advice. New Mexico class and Nevada class superstructures are coming.

Have heard bad things about the HB Arizona, and that the Dragon is much better. However, the Dragon seems to be OOP.... :doh_1:

Steve, I am totally into this. Just got one of the the Blue Ridge's New Mexico kits. Despite being a nice one, it has its age (in fact it is a slightly reworked Classic Warships' kit) and if you offered a refurbished superstructure, you'd have my money for sure.

As for Nevada, probably the same. I recently bought at least your turrets for my Tom's Modelworks kit.

And I still believe the guys from the ROP (Samek) will come with the NM kits, as they told me a year ago.

I had a discussion with them today. They confirmed New Mexicos' (1941+) are going to be released. Hopefully during this year. Let's keep our fingers crossed...

What scale and would they be in full hulls?

Based on what Samek has released previously, they'd most likely be 1/700 waterline kits

I have Profile Morskie's books on the New Mexico, Mississippi and Idaho.
Out of curiosity, was there any difference for the New Mexico in 1945 compared to her refit in 1944 besides the ms21 paint job?

Thanks to ModelMonkey and Gabriel, we now have copies of New Mexico's October 1944 Booklet of General Plans for New Mexico online!

According to ROP/Samek representatives, they're working on it.

If Samek releases one or more NM kits, I will design at least one superstructure for them.

Steve; any chance you'll design some of the turrets for the 1/700 Samek WWI series dreadnoughts USS South Carolina etc like you did for the WWI USS New York/Texas?

Cool. :thumbs_up_1: I'll probably use it for the Blue Ridge's kit but we'll see...

Free Time Hobbies has abandoned the YMW and Midship lines of kits and have thrown away most of the patterns and molds. I have a few sets of molds and patterns for some kits that were under consideration for revisions and re-release as BRM kits. Unfortunately, there are no files for the etch and the previous supplier priced themselves out of consideration for them. In addition, the molds for the metal parts are also dead and cannot be replaced, although most of those components would have probably been replace with items from the BRM 3D line, or cast in resin. With so many missing components, though, those plans have also been cancelled.

With the announcement of the Samek kits and the Model Monkey upgrades, the Midship kits can be considered to be history now. I'm sure the Samek kits will be worth the wait.
