Tiny, It was always your stong point, attention to detail,

Time to paint the inside of the bulwarks so I masked off the top rail with low tack masking tape and the used newspaper to cover the rest of the outside of the hull. The paint was applied in thin coats allowing each to dry before applying the next to build up the depth of paint without any runs. Once dry the newspaper and masking tape was removed.

Time to do some work on the four bollards that sit alongside the bulwarks for mooring the ship to the quayside. They are quite simple to make from a brass tube with a hole drilled through about half way up and the cross bar soldered in place. The top is filled with solder and filed to shape.

The tug as progressed with the painting of the deck, brick red and the application of the 2mm wide vinyl white stripe around the top of the bulwarks. For Easter I received a name plate to go on the display stand from my Mum & Dad.

Would it be possible to obtain copies of these drawings

In reviewing your build it appears that when you first built the bulwarks there was no support; how did you accomplish this?

I will sort out some copies of the CAD drawings and email them to you. The bulwalks are moulded into the commericial fibre glass hull I bought from Kingston mouldings.

Hi, I've been quietly following this build with admiration. Better still I managed to get on board the full scale TID 164 at Chatham on Monday as she was open to the public for the Historic Dockyard Easter transport weekend. They are hoping to get her in steam soon, but a stuck piston is holding things up at the moment. If I can help at all with photos just drop a PM.

Hi Anthony having seen your TID tug progress to a point close to completion I for one considers your work inspirational and hope to see your TID on the water and in steam in the very near future. Any thoughts on a follow up project or is it still early days on that score?

I hope you had a good time on the T.I.D at the weekend. I saw the comments on the Facebook page 'Friends of TID 164' about the open weekend. I am planning to get to Chatham to see the vessel for myself in the near future. It is good to here from the quiet watchers once in a while and that my model is of interest to others.

I think I will need about another two months work to finish the model off. I have some thoughts on my next project but still haven't decided if it is what I want to build. I have been doing a bit of research and bought some plans to study but they are on the back burner at the moment.

Funnel

The first stage was to spray under coat the funnel with red oxide paint and allow it to throughly dry. Next using Archers Finescale surface decals I applied the decals to simulate the welds on the funnel and left them to dry for a few days. A final coat of red oxide to seal the transfers before I applied the first coats of Navy yellow. Again I left this to dry for a few days to ensure the paint wouldn't lift when applying the masking tape for the top section of the funnel. Finally the top section was sprayed black and the counter balance weights added.

Tiny the method you applied for the weld lines on funnel makes all the difference , superb work .

I have now completed the steering rod/chain channels that run down the side of the main superstructure and across the rear deck to the rudder quadrant under the grating. The superstructure has been given a final coat of paint too.

Planking the toilet block

Now that the final coat of paint as been applied it was now time to plank the toliet block starting with the outside frames. Using 3mm wide 0.7mm thick mahogany strips each piece is measured, cut and glued in place with superglue. Once the outside frames were complete I continued with each infill panel and door finishing off with the brass hinges and door latch.

Today I connected everything together, filled the bolier with water, lit the burner and raised steam.
