Thanks Larry and Dave! Lot's more work to do, and lot's more PE to add but glad it's looking decent.

Now......to tone down the brightness of the wood deck. I wanted to test some light grey Florry wash last night, but got distracted by the debates! ha! :)

Glad to see that I wasn't the only one who wasted my time watching that comedy show. 100+ minutes of pure BS!

I think I sprained my eyes from rolling them so often and have a mild concussion from all the facepalms!

Slightly more progress this weekend, hopefully more tomorrow. I've placed most of the wood decking down and finished painting the helo pad. Painted one turret overall haze grey to decide if I like that better than with the deck grey. I also began working on the area beneath the starboard Harpoon missiles and added stairs, doors and railings.

Feel free to comment, give opinions, point out errors...whatever :)

Haha, yep.....a brand new, straight out of dry dock ship! At least till I take off all the forward superstructure and put it back in the closet lol.

I wish I had the talent you do with your weathering on the Yamato, it's brilliant looking!

Thanks for commenting! :)

A bit of work yesterday on the starboard side, railings and life rafts. I'm going to do more later today, I'll grab more images then.

Super work Brett! :thumbs_up_1: Really crisp and clean as others say. In some shots in looks like 1/200 scale!

A beautiful ship being done justice!

Hey everyone. Not a big update from the weekend as I wasn't able to get as much done as I'd like to have (feeling a bit under the weather).

I've been focusing on the starboard side, from the rear super structure forward. Ladders, railings and life rafts attached in some areas, moving forward slowly.

I included images below of a sort of "in process" for attaching railings. I airbrush them on the PE fret, then remove and attach them to the ship with CA. Afterwards, sand the joint down, brush on Mr Surfacer, sand again, repeat till smooth. Afterwards, mask off areas that I don't want painted and airbrush the railings again with haze grey.

Anyways.....this is the second time typing all this out since I forgot to hit submit! Back to taking it easy and feeling better!

Comments are always welcome :)

Beautiful work so far mate! I believe I will take a few cues from you in the building of my 1996 USS Wisconsin with VLS and all the great works she would have seen.

Thanks Dave! VLS on the Wisconsin, that'll be interesting to see! Where are you thinking off adding the launchers?

Well, still too good! So you're a very experienced modeler, then!

Again, looking forward to more progress and painted veteran parts. :woo_hoo:

I meant to post this long ago. This is what I usually build.....

Very, very beautiful work! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: I wish I could make something that good! I also like aircraft models since very young, even before getting the ship disease. Did you build any ship 25 years ago? Any pic I can see?

Cheers,
Aur

Hey Aur

Sorry, no pictures from the models back then (I'd be scared to post those!). That was back as a kid and living at home lol. I've got more of my recent stuff, F-14B, F/A-18E, B-1B, etc. I could add links to those I suppose.

On the topic of the ship, I'm finally feeling decent again so I'm hopeful to get most of the starboard side railings and ladders attached, cleaned up and painted over the weekend! More to come :)

The plan was to put them in the super structure, turning the amidships and aft ABL missile decks into VLS missile decks. The missile decks would be built up by 1 deck to the 04 level, and voids cut down into the super structure with the bases of the launchers resting on the main deck. The deluge and VLS control equipment was to have been in the O3 Levels of each respective missile deck. It would have been in an arrangement of 2 x 16-cell arrangements amidships and 2 x 32-cell aft for a total of 96 tubes. They would have been the Mk41 Mod1 tubes that only fired TLAM and VLASROC. :thumbs_up_1:

The modernization would have included a lot of other upgrades, and the modifications to the Mk29 NATO Sea Sparrow launchers strengthened to withstand the over pressure from Turret 2 firing "over-the-shoulder" were finished and ready to be installed in place of Mts 51 and 52.

Keep up the great work, Brett!!!

Whoops, missed this. I haven't had a chance to work on the New Jersey at all recently (though, I did work on the 1/1000 TOS Enterprise....while watching Start Trek Beyond, go figure). Did some backcountry camping here in Utah, then busy with family/friend stuff over the weekends.

This weekend is pretty open, so I'm hoping more progress on the starboard side. We'll see! Thanks for checking, it keeps me motivated!
