Fujimi just recently released an IJN Hiryu and the modern JMSDF Hyuga in 1/350. More will come in the next months.
Forgot about the JMSDF Hyuga. It passed unspotted under my interesting radar.... ;)
And the Hiryu was released in November 2011 according to HLJ and 1999.:)

Atma wrote:Well well, let's finish this thing once and for all. My favourite Japanese battleship the all gun IJN Ise and IJN Hyuga is still far away from a proper release from Fujimi.
The reasons:
1)IJN Ise and IJN Hyuga is more popular in the Japanese market in the Hybrid version, and less popular in any version outside of the Japanese market. And this is reflected by the low sales of 1/700 and the 1/350 version of the IJN Ise outside of the Japanes market.
2)IJN Fuso and IJN Yamashiro turned to be high sellers in 1/700 and 1/350 and there reasosn is that they are very popular in Japasene and foreign markets.
3)We will definitely see one more version of Admiral's Hiraga "what if" series - IJN Tosa(?) -, and that means no IJN Hyuga in all guns version in the first months of 2013, cause it turned out that IJN Amagi/IJN Akagi(the battlecruiser) was the best selling 1/700 model in Japanese market for the 2012, BUT not a 1/350 version, the size of IJN Amagi class is huge and the cost of a model in 1/350 will be prohibiting to repeat the success of the 1/700 version.
4)Im 100% that by the end of the 2013 we will see a IJN Hyuga in all gun version. Im trying hard for this, after all there was a test model in Fujimi offices(the hull and the main guns, no bridge or any other structure) in August 2012. The reason for the delay is that an all gun IJN Ise and IJN Hyuga is a tottaly different model from a late war version, is not just extra 2 36 cm turrets. Hull, pagoda, main guns had different roofs, deck and I repeat, the main HULL.

And lets not start talking about cancelled Fujimi projects.
Thanks for the overview Atma, good to see that a Tosa might be in the winds.
I can wait till the end of next year for a new Ise / Hyuga
Can we expect Fuso / Yamishiro pre 1930's versions any time soon?
Please lets talk about cancelled projects, what and why?

Atma,
When you mention an IJN Hyuga all guns in 2013, is it 1/350 (I hope) or 1/700 ?
The only IJN BB which do not exist yet in 1/350 are Hyuga all-guns and Hiei. Hope to see them once to complete my collection

Hobby Boss LHD-2 USS Essex 1/700

Post by Steve »

Not completely new news for the LHD 2-7 ships but this is the first time I've seen the kit actually listed (in Cybermodeler under Squadron).

Trumpeter have the German Type 1934 Destroyer Z-7 "Hermann Schoemann" in 1/700 listed as February 2013 release (4th image down):

http://www.trumpeter-china.com/a/en/new ... /2290.html

Listed as 1942 configuration, but box art screams "as built" to me.

Also, the Maryland in 1/700 is listed as January 2013 (2nd image down):

I hope all gun IJN Ise and Hyuga sooner or later, I can wait.

No no, lets talk about cancelled Fujimi projects. Sounds like an interesting topic, not to mention cancelled projects from other manufacturers (maybe off line?)

Glad to have my JMSDF Hyuga, hoping to see a nice reference book for it sooner or later on HLJ. Also looking forward to more IJN and JMSDF ships in 1/350.

Intersting - I see the CVS-12 Hornet on the list. They had announced a re-issue of that slant-deck Essex kit a couple years back, but then cancelled it saying the molds were damaged. Does this mean they've been fixed?

In that list of kits is something I've always wanted build:

It's 1/200 scale, This would be rather large in that scale.
Ship building skills would certainly help.

Looks like this will be the year of the u-boot. First previewed in Oct at iHobby, additional photos of Arkmodel's 1:48 Type VIIc appeared the other day. Granted, its a test model but many of us are scratching our heads over those monster rivets someone in their R&D shop decided to cover the hull with.

Yeah, it's the same as the Albany kit that came out a while ago with new decals.

I was under the impression that the two had minor differences, or are the parts included in the Albany kit?

The kit parts are identical, unless they've changed it since we were given the instructions for review.
