Hi all,

Les, thanks a lot for the input, but after some research I could more or less solve the problem.

Here you are a couple of pics of the construction at the present moment. The deck was at last painted in dark grey. If everything goes according to the schedule, the construction should be finished in the first week in january. Holly Molly, it was about time.

Excellent! By far the best rendition using that kit that I've seen.

Very nice build. Makes me want to tear into mine, but it will have to wait in line.

Hi all,

The construction is already in the final phase. Almost 90% of the elements are already set in place.
I have already finished one of the most delicate sections, the support cables of the stacks, something much more delicate to make than stanchions and lifelines, which are also made.
It is like this at the moment :

(108).jpg
(109).jpg
(110).jpg
The stack cables in detail :
(111).jpg
The bridge is already finished, everything in place :
(112).jpg
Although when covered most of the details will be darkened, the reason why it was not necessary to be too careful with the little details, such as phone boxes or lockers :
(113).jpg
And so are things at the moment.

Very best regards,

Willie.

Very nice Willie, it's been a pleasure watching the build throughout the different stages. Thanks for all the clear closeup photos and build descriptions.

Hi all,

Thanks for your kind remarks.
Here you are a couple of general views of the model at the present moment, after adding the flying bridge, the splinter mats, the wind deflectors and some other details :
(114).jpg
(115).jpg
(116).jpg
And a closer one of the flying bridge :
(117).jpg
The splinter mats were carved with the X-acto # 11 blade and file, and were a bit laborious to make, as my fingers are not little enough to handle them comfortably. The sewings have been simulated with paint, as it was impossible for me to cut them onto the plastic.
Very best regards from Spain,

What's next on your list? How about a Revell Buckley, Forrest Sherman, or Lindberg DE. Great model!

Actually it will be the Lee FFG08 O.H. Perry, 1/300, built as SPS F81 Santa Maria. The keel will be laid down next week, I hope.

Hi all,

Well, I think the thing is more or less finished.
Maybe there are some little details in paint to be retouched in next days, but little else.

The halyards for the signal flags are glued at the top and free at the base, what made the operation a bit easier, without offending realism. The rest of the rigging was not that easy, but was done without further problems.

This is basically what I wanted to do, and although this is HMS Caldwell, and for some unknown reason, this is the picture that actually inspired all the project :
(118).jpg
And so are things after the process :
(119b).jpg
Some more views :
(120).jpg
(121).jpg
(122).jpg
Closer details :
(123).jpg
(124).jpg
I hope you like them, and very best regards,

Willie.

And the last series of closer details :
(130).jpg
(131).jpg
(132).jpg
(133).jpg
I need to make a beautiful base, but all the process is to find a suitable chocolates plastic box, to take the lid, to glue on top of it the grey base that it now has and paint the whole in neutral grey. No problem at all, regarding construction.
So, all things considered, I hope you like the final product as it is now.

Very best regards from Spain,

Willie.

Great Stuff Willie. Would you mind if we took some of these pictures to make a gallery of for the site?
