Hi Jef,
did you have seen the brass barrels on page 1, which Burkhardt Masch turned for me? You can't produce barrels with a similar quality from wire ;)

Hi Kenny, I have to apologise myself for the delay. I was in Amsterdam photographing some contemporary models, e.g of this similar 24-gun ship in Amsterdams Historisch Museum:

Image

I completed the ship's sites with a 0,5 mm thick and 0,5 mm high plastic stripe, which form the part above the gun port until the upper deck:

Does someone know, if the walls inside on the main deck level were painted or left in wood colour?
It was very likely painted red.

There were some problems with the gun ports, especially with the location of them. Therefore I had to rebuilt them twice.

I put also the stern gallery in place:

@ Kenny:

I had unfortunately not much time last days. Therefore I made only small progress. I built the ship's sites to the forecastle and the quarterdeck. A tweezers was very useful to fix the sites:

I have still to correct to upper side and to finish the bulwarks midship.

Afterwards I will paint the deck and add details, before I will fix the superstructure decks.

Here a comparison with USS Mustin, which I am also building:

I have finished the bulwarks midships:

The midship part is made of 0,25 * 0,5 mm Evergreen stripes.

Here a size comparison with a Seahawk helicopter:

wow!

that'd scare the crap out of the crew if a seahawk travelled back in time and hovered over it....

how big was the crew?

The crew consisted of 150 men.

I like this comparisons of different periods. I make obvious how small these ships were.

Nice work!

Have a look in the main forum at the thread(haha!) rigging wire
http://www.shipmodels.info/mwphpBB2/vie ... hp?t=14408

there is a UK source called little cars

who have a great source of very thin wire, some coloured, in stainless steel, copper and lead down to o.o8mm...

I shall be shopping there later today...

here is the link:

http://www.little-cars.co.uk/toolsacc.htm

May well be useful for rigging the ship.

I am watching with interest!

No, unfortunately I am building Swedish 1/1 wooden kits for my new flat and found no time to built HMS Rose. But I hope that this wooden stuff will soon be finished.
