Please don't be cryptic again and just state your observations plainly.
It is wasting my time to go off on some uneccesary wild goose chase.
But if I must is it something to do with the bridge face?
I was under the impression K-class destroyers had a windscreen and also the angular bridge face doesn't appear in this photo.
Caption reads:
'Mr. Churchill watches from a destroyer
When allied forces made their landings on the French Riviera coast Mr. Churchill watched the successful operation from H.M. destroyer Kimberley.
Standing on the left of the Prime Minister is Mr. R. Patterson, U.S. Under-Secretary for War.'
Please will you also respond to this, your area of expertise is needed on Hesperus camouflage:

in Afridi to Nizam, John English also states that Kimberley "conveyed the Prime Minister to the invasion beaches in the south of France on 15.8.44".
but having looked through Langtree's Kelly's as well as English's book there are not a lot of close-ups of the Bridge and I do not have any large scale plans. However, most seem to show a glass screen beginning directly at the slope, even a small photo of her as laid-up in 10.48 does not seem to have a raised metal shield as the photo appears to show. I think that this is what wr might be getting at.
also is the position of the signal lamp correct for an JKN?
hope I haven't thrown any false leads into the game
Laurence, your source of photos & data is superb, please keep it going.
Terry
Is the ship K-class HMS Kimberley or is it something else? The answer can be found here:

Reason: Alan Raven has shown the ship to be a Hunt class destroyer, not Kimberley

The WEM etched set for O/P class gives two sizes of lattice mast. The tall one I can find on photographs, for example Petard. The shorter one I cannot - unless it is the cut down postwar one, also seen on Petard. Can anyone confirm this, or suggest a source for photos of wartime P class with the shorter lattice mast?

Re: Calling all Royal Navy K-O class fans
I am building HMAS NORMAN in 1/72 scale as she was in the Indian Ocean in 1943 as part of the 7th Flotilla. While I have a very good handle on the camouflage scheme in force at that time, I have been unable to find authoritative information on what colours the inside of the 4.7" mountings were painted - I would doubt that they would simply confrom with the camouflage scheme but would be painted such as to make operation of the guns in the dark somewhat easier. I have heard that the inside of the mounting was white (dark grey decks) and the loading mechanism red but cannot obtain any confirmation of this. Any ideas out there?
Cheers

I'm posting this image of HMAS NIZAM here as a reference.
I found this image of HMAS NIZAM with the pennant D15 at NARA labeled as "HMS LUDLOW". The photo was taken in Tokyo Bay on 7 September 1945.
