Some of the previous links in this thread seem to no longer to be valid. I came across these construction, drydock and interior photos of the GZ that may be of interest... enjoy!!!

I too have been waiting for this kit to appear. I E-mailed Lindburgh last June asking when it would be released and was told by the end of 2010. I just E-mailed them again and got the answer "by the end of 2011". It is taking so long everyone will be fed up of waiting by the time it eventually comes out. Or in my case to old and febble to build the darn thing.

Where did you hear that? It would be a nice release in a standard scale; counting the linberg 1-200 and the Revell 1-720 one, we need one in a normal scale i.e 1-350 or 1-700.Or even better; both.

I was implying plastic as the medium. I have seen the kit you linked and it is a good one abit a little out of my price range

I wouldn't mind doing the GZ as my next model ship to work on, is there a model kit you recommend me purchasing for this Aircraft Carrier?

There's only one in plastic: Revell's 1/720 offering. A neat almost out-of-the-box buildup here: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=79590

There's also the resin one by HP as noted above.

Able, your holding your camera too close to the Model. Stand a meter back and use your zoom lense, you'll get a better picture.

I'm working on a kitbash of the Revell of Germany 1/720 Graf Zeppelin into a 1943 version. A fit out for a summer deployment to the Arctic to interdict convoys. After catastrophic damage from an Atlantic hurricane in 1942 I have her rebuilt with an enclosed bow of sorts and an increased number of heavy AA flak guns. Its not working out too well and I rarely build good enough to put in a show so I'll take some pictures.

Just painted my 2400 scale lead G.Z. - painted her Dolphin grey with slate grey deck & blue base - she looks great! - the darker (yet still light) deck accentuates the mini very well.

I'm about to start my Orange Hobby DKM Graf Zeppelin for an IPMS group build.

For references, I'm using the following page:
http://secretweaponsoftheiiireich.blogs ... rrier.html

I'm debating painting her in a Tirpitz-style dazzle just because.

Does anyone know of a good online resource for more reference pictures?

Edit: I'm also considering a small wing of Fl-282 helicopters for recon. I have this evil mental picture of the KM using the Graf Zeppelin as a scout unit for their wolf packs... I would, of course, have to scratch a prototype for the little chopper.

great picks!

entirely appropriate, if finished she may well have been given a similar paint scheme.

Her actual design was basically a Surface Raider/Fleet Scout with the ability to carry aircraft (hence the 16-15cm guns for blasting freighters - & self defence Vs enemy cruisers), the air load would have been only 1 group of BF-109s and the rest JU-87s which would do the dual role of convoy attack aircraft & recon (with - initialy - Fi 167 scout Bi-planes). subbing a unit of 282s for a group of 87/167s would not be out of the question (there were plans to equip U-boats with auto-gyros - the Japs had sea plane carrier subs) so giving some to their carrier would make sense.

I'm going to build a master for a FL-282 out of Milliput or styrene plus some brass. Ideally, I'll pass it on to a friend for some clear resin copies.
