thanks ,you guys are to kind.setori it took me about 8 hrs to this point ,i still have to paint it but that will not take long.my biggest problem was that i did not mount the pulleys and stuff on the inside first.it was a bugger trying to mount them ,i had to take some of the bracing off to do it.must make sure to think things out before this happens again

more plane deck work.the plane carriages are made from styrene.the biggest problem with them was i did not have a scale drawing for them,but i had drawings showing them but not to scale.by looking at the scale of the catapults height and width, i think i came close to the correct size.

Hi Russ This is looking good . Question the three shallow deck housings sited on the catapult platform , what would they have been used for ?

dave i have no idea what they are for,i have no actual pics of them.all the drawings i have show no doors, so maybe they are air vents?

here's the aircraft crane.i did not have any rod or flat styrene small enough for the bracing so i used my chopper to cut very thin stripes.if you use an exacto knife the styrene curls up,but the chopper cuts them nice and flat.heres some pics.

this crane is very good.
i don't know this tool but is very interesting to repetitive work on styrene and cut same sizes of measures.
good aspect crane Russ.
i know what work in small scale..

hello dave and norbert. the tool for cutting styrene is from northwest short lines they make all kinds of stuff for model railroad modeling.once set up to cut on piece you can cut as many as needed at any angle you want.works on wood or styrene up to about 1/16 of an inch the blade is about 2.5 inchs long.dave i used photo-etch ships wheels for the pulleys.norbert heres some pics of the chopper.

hi norbert,the one downside with the chopper is it will only cut a plank 2.5 inchs long,after building all my triple and double 25 m.m's i said that they where to much trouble and i would not build them again,but i needed 20 singles also, i had enough barrels but just odds and ends of differant shapes of photo-etch.so heres my scratch built single25's.i also made my anchor winchs .heres the pics.

I have the chopper, too. There is a German chopper tool available for styrene modelers, seems to be even more accurate, but IIRC it costs around 100 EURO.

repetive work .it can be very challenging,i am working on portholes,there must be about 300 or so on nagato.to begin with it took me 5 or ten minutes to do one,trying to get the glue on without making a big mess,then placing the porthole over the hole in the right postion.what i did to speed thing up are this..i used a pencil ,put some glue on the pointy end,then put it in the hole gave it a turn and it left i nice circle of glue around the hole,i then could do 3 or 4 holes at a time.to position the part i used a tapered punch,which i put the porthole part on and inserted it in the hole" pesto" this took about 10 seconds, a big help when there are 200 or so to do.the porthole that are welded shut where covered with styrene circles punched out with a leather working punch that was my grandfathers.i believe dave has the same tool,mine is 92 years old.it was made in england more than likly the same make same as daves.my grandfather got it when he was recovering in an english hospital from wounds in ww1.heres some pics

hello all,a little progress on the deck and boat cranes,deck fittings,hatches,vents,bullards,etc.the anchors are cast ,i used some wax,then pressed a metal anchor into it then turned it over and made two halves.then when they came out of the mould i glued them together.easy to make as many as one needs.
