As everyone else has said, your work on the radars is awe-inspiring!
Do you use the same type (melting temperature) of solder for all the joints in the parts? From my very limited experience of soft-soldering metal parts, I found that melting previously-made joints with the heat from the soldering iron was a serious problem.

Apart from using the variable temperature heat source I use a single temperature solder but make plenty of use of simple heat shunts like paper clips which really are the ace in the pack when fine soldering .Although solder with different melting points can be a distinct advantage. Equally I swear by simple jigs or third hands , so all you need is to concentrate on the job in hand and not be to concerned about soldering and holding the job in place. That's a bit like keeping three balls in the air and rubbing your midrift all at the same time?

I've yet to make the second of the two "Head Light" radar arrays I'll compile a stage by stage build on that one.

The next part of the build was to follow up on the various
platforms and arrays on the centre lattice mast supporting
the "Top Knot" dome. This involved some tricky solder work
as the "V" array is in "see through" form. The construction
of this array posed a problem of how to maintain strength
and symmetry when soldering? The net result was to
make use of a solid removable core and build up the frame
around this core. The other problem was that the array
was angled in two directions , upwards and outwards so
the support arm and the centre tube had to be angled
correctly other wise the entire "V" array wouldn't fit into
place. The remainder of the upper frame works were also
splayed, which made for some taxing solder work.

V form array with spacers on the centre core. The idea was to try and match the distance between spacers as per the photos of the
�V� array .

Spacers removed with the lengths of .31-brass wire cut and
ready to form the outer supports frame .

The centre core removed and the outer supports of the
V array in place.

The "V" array in place on the platform. Thankfully the two
angles of the support arms were correct. A big sigh of relief
that that bit is completed .
