I've been wondering what you've been up to. These are really, nice models! About when did they go into service? Who manufactured the kits?

And only two of them? What's wrong with you?

Carl the class consists of six ships.(i have now built all of them) They went into service from 1989 to 1993. They were the last destroyer escorts to be constructed for the JMSDF. Now the older destroyers are assigned to the destroyer escort role.

I am very busy these days in the hospital and have very little time to build anything (unfortunately). I haven t yet started the JAG Belknap or DML Virginia.

Looks great! The Abukumas have been on my list for a while. Two to a kit, right? Someone overbid me on ebay the other week...

Yes Heiko they two in a box. I would recommend this kit to anyone building modern warships.

Ah, finally finished your Hasegawa Abukuma set, Nektarios? I should finish my pair eventually... and my other ROJN versions of a few ships. I picked up for a nice price, another JMSDF Destroyer, the Hatsuyuki. I'll be modifying her along the similar lines of other builds I've done for my Republic of Japan Navy concept.

These life raft canisters and supports weren't fun on the Belknap kit and weren't fun on this model but, they are so, necessary for accuracy. Tom at JAG let me buy the Belknap PE and Canisters seperately. Thanks, Tom!

I added the inclined ladders and railings, along with the canisters and supports, in this area, today. I'm glad this part is done.

Ditto. What's always amazing about Carl's builds is how clean he manages to work throughout the entire building process. I'm just glad when my models come out halfway clean after they received their paint.

Sparrow, your F103 Blas de Lezo is fantastic. Also, this class of ship is one of the best looking AEGIS ships out there. As for my interest in the Philippine Navy... I'm half German, half Filipino with ties to both countries and have always wanted to build both navies. Well, one of each class would be enough.

Who thought that a few inclined ladders, railings, and safety nets would take so, long. One and a half days. Now just the forecastle railings, MACK, ECM platform supports, a few more pieces of railing, antennas, and rigging left do.

Very neat, Carl! And yes, same here, it's always the small stuff that takes the longest even though you'd think it couldn't take so long.

It's so wierd why this tiny WW2 vessel is the flagship of the PN? (this is not a rant!)

One ship per week, I never made that, not even when I was building kits! And at such a level of detailing etc. Really unimaginable!

Heiko, that's some nice detailing you're doing there. It'll look excellent when painted. Strange choice of subjects, but that's exactly what attracts me in modelling, much more than any Yamato or Bismark! Keep it going, you'll have a nice fleet in the end

Neptune, very strange choice of subjects, but that's also what I like about it. Apart from actual kits that I have in store, I already have a few other ideas of ships that I've never seen built before. We'll see...

I don't think any company would even bother doing any decal set of the PN.
