Hi guys,

I'm pleased to show you a few pictures of both ships that are now finished and already seen sailing together:
I hope you like them. More pictures in my shipyard, if you're interested. Also, if anyone could point me in the direction of a decal set that has decals for the PN or the Philippine flag alone, that would be great. Thanks!

Heiko i think that you can find Phillipine navy flag decals in the decal sheet of the Skywave Cannon kit.

Great Stuff all! I am fimally able to catch up with looking though all the posts. WOW! I also am almost finsished with my CGN25. Just a bunch of little cleanup to do, but here are some pics.

I don't think any company would even bother doing any decal set of the PN.

That's what I thought, too. Especially because they do mention the PN version on the back and when I checked the Cannon kit review on here, it did come with a decal set with multiple flags. Mine only came with two small decal sheets for the Japanese Navy. Strange. However, Kidcurrie sent me something to help me out. All I have to do is find a good printer now.

Thanks orb, just a few areas and I need to add a decal I missed. This build was hard to get to do, bunch of stuff getting in the way. You are correct that will be the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), the last needed LHD for my fleet. It will sit next to the Wasp, Bataan and Iwo Jima.

Great job John! I don't get to see the Bainbridge finished too often. You have done a superb job.

Thanks Tom, great kit as all of JAGs are. I am sorry but had to pick up a Virgina from Cyber-hobby, but JAG is the only place to get my LPDs and LSTs which I still need many of.

The site is still up, but I am not posting my ships there any more. That was design to show the members that we could build pages for each member to help display what they do within club does. It seems that no one wants to truely manage the site (me included). I develop software all day, and do not have enough time to model lately let alone manage a site. I still upload the newsletters for them, but not much more than that.

I created a photobucket account to hold ship pictures, I think I need to do some setup then I will send you the url.

Hi guys,

finally, after quite a long time, here is a small selection of pictures of my finished USS Bataan. The airwing consists of 6x MV-22B Ospreys, 6x CH-46E Sea Knights, 5x AH-1W Super Cobras, 5x AV-8B Harrier, 3x CH-52E Super Stallions (all WEM) Deck vehicles are from JAG, except for the Tilly crane, which is scratchbuilt. The crew is of course from Eduard.

Apart from all the major structural changes to the hull and superstructures, I also worked on the airwing. The cargo doors of the forward helos were opened to depict Marines during their boarding process. The resin canopies of the Harriers and Cobras were sanded off and replaced with clear plastic ones. Decal stripes cut into the right shapes were used to depict the other cockpit windows. The Ospreys can be found in 3 modes: boarding, parked and flying.

Been a little while since I posted anything here. I've been a busy guy the last couple of days, building and working on ships that have either been waiting for a cue, or half-built for a while. Two Abukuma DE's, and a Yamagumo DDK. Pictured is my previous Yamagumo as well, just for kicks and giggles. I'm not entirely sure what to put on the aft of the new Yamagumo, so ideas are welcome. Anyways, here we go:

Nektarios, this airgroup is 100% fictional Actually, I was going to use a whole bunch of CH 46s more but then you mentioned that I could also use the V-22s. That was of course a great idea because the Bataan is the first LHD to carry a V-22 squadron aboard. But since I had already bought 6 CH 46s, I thought I might as well use them too. May not be 100% accurate, but it works for me. I will build a LHA somewhere down the line and maybe the CH 46s will migrate there, in case I decide to get more V22s, which is very likely. Fantastic and unique aircrafts.

I hope my LHD3 is as clean. I actual started this week here is a shot of the stern. - John

Clean is relative, depends on how close you go with the camera Do you plan on building the entire LHD line-up? You said you already have the Wasp, Bataan and Iwo Jima built. I was briefly thinking about doing that, but quickly abandoned that thought when I remembered how much work the Bataan was. I think I will stick to the plan that I won't build more than one ship of each class, similar to Carl's idea, but I won't start as far back in time, and I'll throw in a few other ships from time to time for variety. What are your plans?

Have I complimented you on your Rajah Humabon build, yet? What an accomplishment! Nice display with both ships side by side! I find that builds like that (and like my Brooke) originate as notions in my mind that I just gotta do and complete. Well done, Sir!

I hope that when I get to the LHD and LHA category in my 1/700 USN collection, that mine turn out as nice as your Bataan. Which kit is that? 1/700? 1/720? I'd probably replicate the Boxer to match my LPH-4 Boxer.

I'm sure that I'm late in expressing my admiration for your Bainbridge. Fine.....Fine Build! I noticed the windows on the gig. I used small pieces of black decal for the windows on my Josephus Daniels. How'd you do yours?

If I may suggest, to you, changing the background area of your photographs or using a different light source. They are coming out too, yellow, aren't they? Sean Hert told me that the background color can affect the auto exposure feature(s) of my digital camera. (He hates my blue sky backgrounds for some reason. Hi, Sean! ) I think he suggested that gray is the best color for a background and I find that fluorescent or natural sun light are best for me. Are you using incondescent lighting?

More ambitious WIFs on your workbench, I see! Once again, I am not familiar with this/these class of ships but, I admire what you do, all the same.

Nektarios - not a bad idea, I opted for a Mk25 instead, which gives it a bit more size on the open area.

Nikos - the Yamagumo is about the size of a Gearing, so putting a helipad on it would not work very effectively - it would wind up being just a pad like on the Sawakaze. Instead, Airgroup will be handled by the Shirane, Hatsuyuki, and other ships. These are the outer escorts more like.

Carl - they're JMSDF hulls, two Yamagumo DDK and two Abukuma DE's. I'm thinking of working on one of my Spruance hulls still on the shelf, and maybe the Perry I have, so you might see some familiar hulls soon.
