The The Braunschweig or K 130 Class are the newest class of Corvettes for the German Navy. With a total of 10 ships planned, they will take over the responsibilities and tasks of the aging Gepard Class ships.

Heiko that's an impressive scratchbuilt ship. I am hoping that someone will produce this kit since i don t have time for scratchbuilding (or building ships lately).

How about building the rest of the modern German navy??? NNT produces Type 122, Type 123 and they will also release Type 124.

In the last couple of weeks i started building some aircraft since i do not have time to build ships. I intend to do the CVW-6 1991 using pitroad aircraft and the starfighter decal set.

Some nice looking Tomcats man Question, how did you treat the canopies/cockpits? It looks like you just painted them black but some look like they might be clear. Can't tell with the camera glare. Just wondering.

They are black like all most of my aircrafts' canopies.

Nikos, I didn't know that there will be a Greek version - interesting!

Nektarios, super nice airplanes! I had planned to scratchbuild the Type 124 next, but then also came across NNT's kit that will be released soon. I know that they also have the Type 122 and 123 available but haven't considered buying them yet simply because they cost quite a bit - like most resin kits. But with the Type 124 I think there's not going to be a way around me getting myself one of those since scratchbuilding makes no sense if there is a properly accurate kit available. I do plan on building a few more German ships - modern ones, since there are plenty of Bismarcks and Tirpitz models out there.

Not_so_COB, I tried to add a few waves to the surface to make the water look more dynamic. The method I used is more or less a derivation of Jim Baumann's method. I cut and glued toothpicks to the flat surface, then moistened a sheet of paper, spreading it across, cutting out the hull shaped hole. Then added some putty under the edges of the "hole" to give it stability. The surface was then just painted in various colors.

I'm not very satisfied with the result, especially because the wave crests seem a little too edgy and sharp caused by the paper which tightened around the toothpick when it started to dry. In the future I will try to make the transitions more smooth, which will hopefully give better results.

yes, your work on the 1/700 planes are masterful. your CV-64 build of Connie and the Combat Carriers cover of Connie made up my mind of what era she should be in. I'll just do the things you have done to your build and tansfer that to mind.

I d say that i need one day for these three E-2s including painting and adding decals.

Thank you John for your kind comments.

I decided to upgrade all U.S. carriers in my fleet by adding PE nets to those that don t have because they were built almost many years ago when wasn t using PE for my ships. The carriers intended for upgrade are:

CV-66
CVN-68
CVN-69
CVN-70
CVN-73
CVN-74
CVN-76

I found some time in the last couple of weekends and i improved the first of the carriers CVN-69. Apart from adding the PE i also weathered the flight deck, repaired all damaged done to the ships during removal of the plastic nets and added minor improvements. The first two photos show CVN-69 before and the next couple after the modifications.








Next in line is CVN-73
Any comments questions or remarks are welcome.

Very, couragous, Nektarios. I'd hesitate to mess with a finished model in fear of screwing it up.

Please forgive my carrier ignorance but, what do you mean by "nets"?

So, were the aircraft not attached to the deck?

Hiya Carl,

Nets on carriers are generally in the areas not covered by the catwalks, around the bow area, take off area for cats 3 and 4, and the stern.
