The Ukuru type is considered a modified Type B (Mikura) Type, not a Type C. Perhaps the Nihon Kaigun site gives a better perspective: http://www.combinedfleet.com/Kaibokan.htm The Type C was a simpler, smaller design. Interestingly, most of the Ukurus either succumbed to submarine attack or survived the war, which is probably why there aren't many, if any, photos of them under air attack.

I dunno, the C/Ds are 30' shorter and 1' thinner. Pit-Road makes the Ukuru modified "B" Type and the Hei ("C") type in 1/350, but not the Tei ("D"). It might be better to start with the Hei kit. Drawings from Nihon no Gunkan.

Okay that helps a lot. Thanks. With that information I started digging through the TROM for the Ukuru's. The Shinnan was damaged and headed for Hong Kong where she was damaged again while in harbor. Then I found this:

This is listed as South China Sea raid 1/16/45. If I am correct towards the top center in the second dock is what looks like an Ukuru. I wanted to run this past better educated eyes to see if I am right.

Can anyone identify the ship at the bottom of the dock? I am thinking about doing this scene in a diorama but have had not luck on that ship.

That doesn't look like an Ukuru to me. One can interprete the aft part as having a twin mount - but there's clearly a well deck between forecastle and bridge. I'd say that's either an Etorofu or Shimushu class.

I have photos of both Kozu and Ikino, but they're directly-post-war photos, no pics of them in Soviet service. I don't have any pics of the listed C-class ships.

Great news hopefully .
In the new Fivestar kit of the gunboat Nankai are two brass and PE parts 120 dual gun included.
SO hopefully they will release it soon. They will be more than welcomend by me for teh Ukuru and Mikura escorts

I want to build hte Hirado and the Etorofu during 1944.
Are there plans regarding the weapons for them?
Pitroad gives only the layout for 4 other ships.

Well, the TROM overviews states that upgrades were received by August, 1943, but this is a generalization that seems to vary by ship.

Etorofu doesn't even assume duties until early June, 1943, so this seems premature. She visits Sasebo briefly in September, October, and for a more extensive refit in December. You can take your pick, though December seems most likely.

Hirado first assumes her duties in early November, 1943. Her first refit is at Sasebo in June, 1944. I suspect that the June visit more likely than her beginning with the expanded weapons suite.
