As usual you are the master of carving from a solid black. A very special tactile and visual-manual skill. Your 5" mount is very convincing!

Song:

Nice job on the hull waterline! I have that exact same unit for scribing that I purchased in Shanghai. You have an advantage in having a sufficiently large glass surface! So many modelers are afraid to scratch build because of the hull construction. My experience is that as you have shown, the structure goes very quickly and may be only about 10% of the total model construction time and effort wise.

I hope that modelers absorb your well documented techniques and will plunge into such projects!

Best regards: Tom

I am a old style modeller only.
I've made ship's marking by stencil method.
The result is bad. What can I do......

Song:

Yes the lettering is a difficult item, especially when the shading is used. I followed Iceman's lead and use a Cameo machine for stencils and lettering. The modeler doing a 1:144 model of the Spanish Navy Jorge Juan (Ex USS MCGowan) has cut some stencils just as you have, with the shading. I can only admire the steady hand and of course the pride of old craftsmanship by hand. I found on line a USN Font which I used, but it could also be printed to guide the hand cutting of stencils. I found the cutting of stencils for Missouri's helicopter deck the most challenging!

Thank you with inspiring us with your skillful works! Best Regards: Tom

Dear Tom;
The lettering is terrible former post. I did re painted hull numbers again. It is very difficult to cut by hand and masking of shading also.
Thabk you always, Best Regards; Song

One would think such a blocky bridge structure would be easy but in reality many complex compound angles! This looks excellent joinery, as usual!

It is result of bridge structure.

I still work mast. I find mistake both supports of mast. The cross section is triangle not rectiangular.
I took out some parts and remake it.
