You can also use CA/Superglue to glue stuff without dissolving them, but Future is probably cheaper.

heres an update on the welding lines,i am not all that fussy the way they look with a light coat of primer.i attached stretched spruge to the hull with future,what a time consuming job. this is after a light coat of primer,i am going to give a small area a coat of paint to see if it covers the lines more ,if not i will sand them off and she will get recessed lines. after all the line work i added the plane handling crane sponson,it entailed cutting into the side of the hull,this was very stressfull,i did'nt know what i would get into,but it worked out o.k.i used a piece of 1/2 " balsa and thin scribed copper sheeting for for it.

your to kind dave,i'm still not sure about the lines,i gave a small area anouther coat of paint but it made the lines look even bigger. i think i have to go back to the drawing board and rethink things, if i carry on it could be to late to change things. this happened with roma when i tried styrene sheeting the hull,it took me a week to strip and get the hull back in shape.

i did not like my plating lines,they were to heavy for my liking.i went with the tape method with scribed welding lines.after one coat of primer the lines are just visable.before the final hull color the lines will have to be scribed again.still waiting for styrene rod to put on the heavy lines on the bow and stern.on the bow shot i relized the anchor holes were not even,cameras picks out lots of boo boo,s.it was hardly noticeable to the naked eye.i have fixed it
i am posting all my screw up's, i hope i am not posting to much if so let me know and i will only post the result i am going with.any comments good or bad, i look forward to.

I like the new plating .Looks the the real plating in Maru Special # 1

been working on decking,i'm using 1/32 thick scribed decking with a 1/16"spacing.for the caulking i use a micron 005 pen that makes a 0.20 mm line very fine,the pigment is waterproof and fade proof ,the sheets are pretty thin so they cut easy with a xacto knife.but it is very stressfull one mistake and a expensive sheet of wood is toast, the same for marking the caulking,there is also a close up of the plating and weld lines for gtdeath 13 , close ups are very unforgiving heres some pics.

Hi Russ the results with the pen are really good but as you say one wrong move or a slip and the old trash can starts to get filled up, I know the feeling well!!

thanks for the intrest guys,i have never airbrushed in my life so this will be the first,i used my daughters,it is a passhe single action.they are finicky little beasts.i had a hell of a time, fiqured it out with help from the net.i used tamyia acrylic paint can't get thinner for it,so i used rubbing acohol for thinner seemed to work.they say 15 to 20 lbs. is enough air pressure,but i had to use 35lbs.i had it thinned down pretty good to.my biggest problem was seeing were the spray was going,anyhow it worked fairly well,and i don't have to go out in the cold garage to paint.the boss hardly noticed the smell cleaning up the gun after takes the most time.i had to use my old camera,my daughter took my good one to disneyland. p.s the red is not as red as it looks it is a fairly dull color ,the shine must be light from the window,the gray is tamyia j.n fx12 it is a flat color.

Russ How you build and paint and do such a superb job in such a short time is just amazing .

thanks dave,i think my air brush is going to make my painting alot easier,now i can touch up areas with a brush useing the same paint that i sprayed.before i had trouble matching spay can color with brushable paint. i started this project 2 and 1/2 months ago, i am keeping a log so far i have 95 hrs into it.i keep looking at the pagoda tower,and funnel areas.it is going to be a challange.no matter how many plans and drawings,pics, one has there are always places that seem to be lacking enough detail.

that's the great thing about this forum there is always something interesting going on.i have been watching your progress also,she's coming along great.to build a moterized model is another thing altogether,more work to do to the inside of the hull.

That's true.
And the frames and keel are better not build as high as the hull is, that is what i learned with Well Enhancer......

Realy interesting is the approach of building that casemate section not as a part of the hull but part of the deck.
