Dave- very nice! I am inspired!

But, not to be a pain, but the pics show more ribs on the bases than you have on yours, Is this intentional?

Hello Mike The largest diameter styrene tube i've been able to cut is 20mm .

Hi Sean Yes You are quite right. The reason for this is two fold . On one side of the mounting there is an inspection hatch which I really had no idea of size. Secondly and perhaps wrongly the ribs up the side of the mounting , with the thickness of section I have would have looked out of place if I'd included the two extra ribs. The making of the four AK 630s shown took about an hour . It's the pattern that takes the time.

Hi Phil evey item excepting the WT doors and ships rails are scratch built so progress at times can be quite good but more often than not it all reduced to a crawl . Just completed the aerial arrays around the superstructure and like most of the build they required a degree of lateral thinking.

It�s been a while since any posts but progress has been made .
This post deals with scratch building the Base Tilt fire control
radar for the 30mm CIWS.
Evergreen styrene tube the basic components of the Base Tilt fire control radar.

The next stage was to form the convex face of the radar using P38 fillers.

All the parts for one Base Tilt cut to size and ready to be assembled

Before assembly a more refined shape was required that matched the
drawings and the parts are cut to size and placed in position.

The top panel is fired in to the general shape.

More progress
Gordon Brookes Russian type WT door PE at 1:144 scale

The WT doors PE in place

Side vents from Evergreen plastic sheet cut to size and temporally placed
into position

Vent covers in place . These will be removed for painting

A start has been made on fitting the Russian type 4 bar rails . many
of the platforms on Kiev are 4 bar. The upper platform is 3 bar.

One section of rail is cut but not fitted as it would be difficult to re- fit
the vents at a later stage if this rail were in place.

Viewing the same position but looking aft .

Looking from above, radars everywhere .

The island superstructure thus far . There remains many more smaller
pieces of detail to add before the first coat of paint can be applied.
