gtb -red wrote:Hey John, first let me say that all of your builds (1/700) are great. Second if have the old Plastic Ship Modeler 1995/2 and 1995/3 that Ray Bean did a xollent job on a 1/700 27c. Matter of fact this buildup was in the old Scale Ship Modeler magazine with color pics. Ray used a Hasegawa's 1/700 scale WW II Essex class to convert to a waterline Nam modeler. So you might want look that over and use all that good info. :thumbs_up_1: :wave_1:
Hiya gtb, :thumbs_up_1: i had every copy of Plastic Ship Modeler and the only 3 copies i kept due to my move here were 18,19 and 20 all with the 27C build, i wonder if Ray would let me scan it and post it here, i will ask him

Hope the cut has healed

Right all carrier builders out there. I've come to an empass. I'm soon to start on another nimitz carrier (350) i've narrowed the choice down to the Truman, Nimitz 05 or the Reagan. I can't make my mind up so some thoughts would be welcome !

Hey Simon, whatever you have in mind that you like do it. One Regan is being built by Kin M.and I think Kelly's doing the Truman and I've done the 05 Nimitz. So whatever you do I think all of us carrierbuilders will back you. By the way I have a 1/350 Nimitz sitting in the back room waiting to be built into the CVNB 7O. Yeah, that Vinson sures looks a little different. I would imagine thats how the main nimitz class will turn out. (CVN 70-75)

Hiya Simon,
All three sound like great builds, most difficult i would say is the Reagan due to the changes with the island, Nimitz 2005 and Truman both have many differences to make them very interesting builds, I have pics starting on page 10 of this post covering Truman all round.
The pics i took during her visit to Portsmouth UK in May 2003.

Hope this helps and look forward to seeing your choice.

John, i forgot all about those truman pics towards the start of this thread !

I'm leaning towards the Truman now anyway as the CVW11 artwork looks abit bland and doesn't have any Vikings or cats.
If i was to do the Reagan, the nimitz airwing would also be the most suitable.
