Hi ya Eddie,
Yeah I'm starting a massive build up of modern warships for a harbour diorama. It is a make believe harbour and will be mostly USN but will have other navies as well. The size I'm planning is basicly 3'6' but will be abile to add on to it, like a train layout. This is going to be a life time build. All my 700 scale ships are going into it. My cnc said I can use the "florida room " which is just a 20' 20' room that is not used except on holidays for dinners with our large famlies. So I've got BIG plans and lots of work to do. :woo_hoo:

That's cool man. The next dio I'm doing is a salute to Ray Bean. He did a 1/350 dio of BigE , BigJ, and a FFG years ago Well mine will be a 1/350 Coral Sea,Chicago and two Charles F. Adams class.

Man, if I had the room, I'd do up my Ranger with Sproston, Carpenter & England all in 1/350.... Think there was another ship too in there...

I live in a small 16' or 18' trailer so, don't have much room to store, let alone display my stuff  :eyes_spinning:

Hi Eddie and Red,

First Eddie just build them and knock down a wall or three and add on to it :heh: :heh: :heh:

Red that sounds like a cool dio, the one I'm planning will start with a 6' x 2' area as the start of it. I'm working on the layout of the harbor as this area will house most of my carriers and battleships. The next area will be for cruisers and destroyers, I want to set up another area as an amphibous base which will be the home of my LHA's, LHD's and all the rest of the amphib ships out there. There will also be a naval air station thrown in as well, so all those wingy thingies have a place as well.

Like I said this is going to be a lifetime build so I have a lot to plan out and even more work to do.

Hello Fella's,

I took delivery of a 1/350 Hancock and a 1/350 Yorktown CV-10 today. Delivered from Squadron at $77 a piece! That includes shipping! That is about as low as you are going to get one so if you have been on the fence to get one of the big Essex Class Carriers, hit while you can.

The Yorktown will be built as Bennington early 1945 and the Hancock will be converted into an SCB-125 Bon Homme Richard 1967-ish.

Welcome back to the fold, John. Experiencing death so close up like that does tend to shake the nerves... I'm still not over my Grandfather's death which was back in 99 - he was my major father figure, so yeah. A little more recent history was a kid who got killed in an accident where a van plowed into the broadside of a train on my mail route was a little jarring, since he died on my lap as I was trying to keep him breathing without aspirating the blood that was everywhere.

Take your time, man, you'll find your feet again.
