Thanks John for your compliments and scoping out the build. I am calling the ship side of the build finished. I may put a few more reels on it by the bridge assembly, but for the most part, it's done. I threw away, inadvertently, the jack staff, so I fashioned one out of sprue, left over PE, some eyelets and EZ line. One of the reasons I am not into scratchbuilding.

I won't be putting the jack on it as I intended to represent the ship underway.
I finished up the rigging and added insulators using Testors clear canopy cement. I like the affect. I looked at photo for reference but trying to figure it all out was a bit confusing so I went with a simplified rig as shown in the GMM PE instructions. It works for my purposes.

I put the finishing touches with railings along the starboard side of the Islands, and boat decks, and added the final boats.

I am now working on finishing up the airwing as I await the GMM PE for the airwing. Working on these small biplanes is a real challenge to the dexterity and the eyesight.

Thanks Gordon, John, Martin and Gtbred; I appreciate you checking out the model and your comments very much. I am working on a few more yellow wing Bi-Planes and will post pics when completed. Now I am knee deep in quandary as to how I am going to manage a 1/200 Arizona! My gosh that is a big thing!

I've pulled Trumpeter's 1/350 USS Yorktown CV10 off of the "Shelf of Doom" and put it on the work bench. I bought this kit on 2-19-05 and have worked on it on and mostly off over the last nine plus years.
The last couple of weeks I have spent some time working on the guns a radar and they are now finished.
The 20mm guns and pedistals (Sebastian Lausdat sent me 20 plus pedistals from France)are from Dragon kits, the shields are fromm GMM.
The 40mm guns and bases are from the kit, the shields are from WEM and the rear railings and sights are from GMM.
The 5' guns are from the kit.
The radar pieces are from both the GMM and L'Arsenal PE sets
The aircraft are from the kit. I was going to have 60 plus a/c on the flight deck but that has been lowered to 30.

Hello Gordon:
Good progress on the kit. That is a lot of tedious work and fully appreciate the reduction in the airwing from 60 to 30. I like the Essex's but am leary to pick one of the Trumpeter kits up, as I have heard a lot of bad about them. Well, I felt the same way about the Saratoga, but; I am about ready to post the completed pictures here, so it just comes down to motivation. I am looking forward to seeing you progress on this kit.

Thanks Mark and Cliffy:
I will post some more pictures of the Airwing from some different angles. My F3F's look like they had too much to drink. I think I will re-do those. I did those early in the build, now that I have a few under my belt, I have a system and I know they can turn out better than that.
