Thanks guys!
Now I am getting bogged down in the hanger details. I have a bunch of deck tractors on the way. I do not have a lot of data on where the Conflag stations are going to go either. It appears that there is one about half way between the dividing doors and L-4. I guess there is one half way in the forward bay.
I am also building the fork lifts from the MRC set.
What are you guys working on these days?
Mark

Boy does that ever sound familiar!!! You can drive yourself insane trying to find hangar details! I'd comment on the airwing, but whatever server you have the pictures on is blocked from my work computer, so I can't see em!

Hey Mark,
Might be able to help you out with the conflag station in the hangar bays, there are two in both bays, Bay 1 has one just forward of Ele. 1, overseeing the GSE area and helo spots in the bay, the second is mid bay 1 directly across from Ele. 2.
In bay 2, there is one just forward of Ele. 3 over the Weapons elevator, and the is one aft of Ele. 4 Overseeing the jetshop area, also, most folks do not realize that hanger deck control is in bay 2 on the O-1 level directly aft of the divisional doors, actually butts up to the steel bulkhead that houses the divisional doors. there is a balcony and straight ladder to the deck from the balcony as well as a window that looks aft toward the jet shop.
Hope this helps my friend, oh, yeah also these conflags are triangle style and can only hold one person inside to moniter the bays, there is only one window on each side of the conflags as well, totally different from the Kennedy and the Nimitz Classes.
Again hope this helps.
Jim

Hi Jim,
I am looking for the details for the JFK. Sounds like you are describing the Kitty Hawk or Conny? That is also good info because the Kitty Hawk is next!

Hey Mark,
I can help you out with the Kennedy as well, I served in V-3 Division on her as well I know everything about the hangar bay on the Kennedy as well as the Kitty Hawk, I am working on a line drawing for the Kennedy and as soon as I get it done I can mail you a copy.

Hey Mark,
The best tip I can give you is for the width of the hangar bay (Bay 1) it is only a couple of inches wider then the wing span of an E2-C HAWKEYE, I know for a fact that it is only 6 inches wider on each side from the center line. I know this is true since I am the only ABH in naval history to do a wing spread of an E2-C in the hangar bay of a non-nuc aircraft carrier, I did this on board the Kennedy in 1997. the hangar bay is 101' wide at the divisional doors. As soon as I complete the line drawing from the weegee board from hangar deck control I will forward you a copy.

That is a pretty good trick! I do not remember spreading the wings in the hanger bay on either Conny or Nimitz.
I am looking forward to your drawing. I went ahead and got the Floating Drydock Plans for Kennedy to get it right.

That would've been a sight to see...

Mark,
Your airwing looks great. Always looking forward to your builds. Just a thought, since you are building her during her NAM days. If you do a generic hanger deck setting on the walls. Then fill in the floor with carts of bombs and box's and supplies you would have a great look.

Hope everyone had a nice Xmas. Just started on Connie today. Work on the bulkhead port aft and the opening of the hangar bay. Small work on the bulkhead on the fantail. Until next time.

Working on the transom and stern area. Nothing is glue down. Also the portside bulkhead and #4 hangar opening. Until next week. Happy Modeling!
