Anyone happen to have ship plans(section parts) from colossus class/arromanches/karel doorman?
I found one from the internet but its bkurry and scaled.

I am making the Karel Doorman in 3d at 1/700 scale to print.
I already own the 1/400 scale Karel doorman in build kit

The 'blurry' drawing (looks good enough for '700 to me though) is from the old French plan service, search for 'service historique arromanches' for better versions.

Working on Trumpeter's 1/350 Hornet. Island is from Model Monkey with GMM & Eduard PE, Black Cat 3D printed parts, and some good old styrene sheet and brass rod. The island is about ready for gloss coat and weathering.

Adding the rest of the rails to the hull at the moment.

Martin, are you portraying Hornet at Santa Cruz? If you are and don't already know this, there are two 20mm mounts at port quarter of hanger deck level. I believe they located near the most forward of the rear set of hanger doors. Not sure if any are located at same location on starboard side. Noticed this when looking at wreck photos.

Maybe of interest to you: I'm pretty far advanced with a 1:350 model of the 'Karel Doorman'. I have to take a deep breath to complete all the detail work though...

I havent built a Flyhawk nor a UK carrier but looks a good model,Im not sure of the accuracy but will rely on and appreciate the "experts" here to call out any detail changes required will probably look to purchase additional swordfish - I think Flyhawk do a seperate set. Ive been following all the carrier builds and its all I build only started 6 months ago.

On the slipway all 1700 waterline

Hornet update: Started adding the rafts. Found out that, shockingly, Trumpeter got the number and locations wrong on most of them. Also found they wouldn�t attach, because the PE that represents the center �mesh� portion of the raft is higher then the bottom of the raft. Had to cut small pieces of styrene strip, glue those to the rafts and then use those as attachment points to glue to the hull. First, I added PE paddles to each raft.

When the rafts were done, I added the remaining gun tubs to the deck. Had to rip up a crash barrier as it would have ended up under a tub. That was re-positioned later.

Started putting the PE gun barrels on the 20mm. Very tedious and frustrating process. These L�Arsenal 20mm are difficult to build. And a goodly number of them came out cock-eyed, where the shield drooped when drying. Since I had these versions, I wanted to use them, and not buy 3D printed versions. (The 1.1inch guns are also from L'Arsenal).

Then, I found that the Mk44 directors from Veteran Models won�t fit in the deck edge tubs. The tubs are too small/narrow, as trumpeter incorrectly scaled them for the smaller Mk51 directors. Thankfully, I was chatting with a buddy during the weekend, and he whipped me up a pair of brass replacement tubs that he�s mailing me. Those are scaled to fit the directors.

Everything but ships boats, the island and flight deck crane are attached permanently to the model. Those items need to be weathered - and the masts on the island rigged - before final assembly. Then i have to finish and mount the aircraft. Final step will be painting and adding the crew. So, she�ll be finished in early 2021? Maybe?

The island is just dry fit here. After these pics were taken, it - along with some other parts - got an light oil wash with Payne's Grey.

Certainly not my best work, but it's starting to look like Hornet.

At this point, I�ve wrapped up construction on the ship itself. Still have to give it a once over for any spots that need to be touched up, then blend in the weathering. Next up - finish the TBDs of Torpedo 8, which are test spotted on the flight deck. First I have to the build the torpedoes (each one is turned brass and PE, made by Master Models from Poland). Then, 1/350 figures.

Next project is lurking in the background...waiting her turn.
