Thank you for all your kind comments! I was a bit scared about the work on the bottom of the decks, I don't love repetitive works, but I found that it's easier than what I was thinking and soon I'll "attack" the compass platform ... I'm waiting this moment since the day I cut the first piece of plasticard

EDIT: another one is gone ( time to go to sleep now ... )

Compass platform WIP

I was tempted to detail the interiors following some scatches on the AOTS Warspite, but I gave up, I though it was a useless loss of time so I painted the interior matt black:

This is the result with the infamous steel roof in place :

There is still a lot of work to do on the compass platform, but I'm taking my time 'cause I'm enjoying every piece of this structure which shape is unique for the Barham.

@ EJ: I look at the quality of your Hood as something to aim to, still far from your standard, but I'm happy you like my Barham!

I'd say your doing quite well! Most people don't even have the courage to add styrene blocks, let alone the entire ship! With a bit of practise..

Finished

Later I will add some voice pipes, but now I prefere to don't do it, I still need to manipulate this part.

Adding the wind baffles on the air defence deck was a bit tricky, and the result is just a bit overscale, but I'm happy with it.

15" spotting top

I built it in a way similar to the compass platfrom excluding the windows, that in this case have been made with a small strip. The spotting top is still without the small details 'cause in the next step I'm going to trim the two inclined pillars of the fore ( ops.. yesterday i wrote main

) mast and I will need to manipulate all the structure without destroying anything ...

Spotting top continue ...

I decided to complete in a single piece al the structure above the air defence platform, from left to right: Spotting top & fore mast; 15" director platform and MFDF office roof.

All the deck will be glued with the fore mast and the two inclined pillars, inside the pillars I fitted a copper tube to provide mechanical resistance.

I did a lot of dry fit test...

and discharged a lot of wrong pieces but in the end I found the right fit for all pieces and I glued them...
( in the inset the base of the pillars )

If this is not a great update, I cannot imagine what you reserve for the word great.
BTW : What is the green stuff that can be seen in many of your pieces and structures ?

I'm happy that you like it

by the way the green "thing" is the Squadron Green putty a souvenir from the States unfortunately I'm finishing it, so soon I'll go back to the Tamiya one.
