Ah, come to think of it I did see those - I guess they escaped my mind as I'm used to seeing you building multiple turrets, and many more smaller guns.


Nonetheless, lovely build.

I painted the forward deck blue and painted the Thayer Blue on the side of the bridge, also inside ofall the gun tubs was painted a lighter shade of deck blue with white added.

Well Guys, This is the work I have done to day.

I marked out the timber deck that I had already washed in a thin deck blue thined with terpintine and then wiped over with a soft spoung and left to dry.

I cut the deck to shape and marked in the deck planks, it just lifts it from over all dark blue decks.

I don't always respond to others' posts, but I frequent your update posts.

I post photos of what I am doing, just to share and not to solicit comments. However, comments are always welcome and make me feel good. (I was flattered when someone asked me about how I did my water effects. And I welcomed a comment asking about "Where's the DESRON patch?" on one of my frigate models. I have since kept that detail in mind.) But that's not why I post. It is all about sharing.

I have just recently gotten back into modeling and ships in particular just to make Christmas gifts for my father. I have since caught "the bug". I entered some of my models in the regional IPMS contest, here, without any expectations of winning anything, just to let others enjoy my models. I was flabergasted when I one first place in 1/350 and second place in 1/700 and "Best Ship" over all. I still think its a fluke. There weren't that many ship models entered, anyway.

And in your case, I find your progress reports a lesson plan and incentive to strive to improve my own skills. I'm trying build up my courage to scratch build a large scale ship, myself. While in the middle of a build I have other modelers in the back of my mind. I am trying to please myself and them, as well.

Please continue to let us admire your work even as annonymous admirers.

Even if you still decide to depart this forum, please wait until the Duane is finished. Please?!!! And as long as your posts remain on this forum they will be like a teaching legacy.

Please continue to share your builds. Quality ship building is few and far between. I know that I always don't post much, but I always follow the scratchbuilding forum to see what other modelers are doing. Sometimes I find a different way of doing something or a better way of doing something. Keep up the good work. I hope you continue to share your excellent work.

The painting made her very atractive as a sexy girl in lingeries..... I thought �Duane� did have a white scheme, and I got surprised with coloured.

Ron, she's a beauty really gorgeous. Each build just gets better.

If you leave, we will have no consistent large scale scratchbuilders left. And I'm sure there are many people watching who simply don't post. I know I always am hanging on for the next update, though I've only posted a couple times. Please consider staying.

Ron!!!!!! please don't leave... u are only reason i check this forum!!! please ... and let us see your beautiful Duane build finish... and many others to come.

For what it's worth, the builds on here have inspired me to start a full scratch build from the ground up. Until now, my experiance has been limited to converting the Revell corvette and working from a premade hull for my River class frigate. The methods shown here have provided enough guidance for me to feel comfortable starting from the base plans and for that, I thank you. (the work shown here has also shown that with a little work, my skills can vastly improve as I am rebuilding sections of both the completed ships to try to bring the standards up to what is shown on these boards)

I realize that I fall into that 2000 some odd bunch who don't regulary post (or it appears read either as I missed all this until tonight) but I have followed all your builds and the others since joining the group. I find all the information passed on is well worth the time spent for those who prepare and share it.

If you do leave, I beleive that your legacy here will be a greater number of better builders who have truely benifited from your sharing of your builds.

All the best in your future endevours. Your builds will truely be missed by all.
