The ISW PE stanchion and rails sections are a great time and effort saver.

I've attached the shielded seaplane refueling stations to the rails, as well.

If I feel like doing another PBM Mariner, this is the diorama layout that I'd like to present instead of the smaller diorama of just the tender and the barge.

This layout would incorporate bouys and floating fuel hose and a second PBM based on the drawing, below.

uss duxbury bay model kit

Post by swhsr »

When you built your duxbury bay did you have a kit ? If so which kit and where can i purchase one ? Is your model a workng r/c ? What a fantastic job you have done on this ship. My father was on this ship when they took off the five inchers and put in the a/c unit. I so want to honor my father by recreating his ship. Any help in getting started would be greatly appriciated. Thank you, Steve H.

I have sent for the FloatingDrydock plans.

I am considering a Barnegat class in 1/48 scale, or maybe, if too big, 1/72nd.

Any advice on which one?

I like the Abescon floatplane trainer, but it did not serve in 'action'. It would make a dramatic R/C model though, especially if I could arrange the floatplane drogue tow.

Some of the later ones have great camouflage schemes.

I liked your drawings showing how Mariners were refueled as, along with a 1/48th scale Mariner, when moored at a buoy, the refueling scenario would be interesting.

Hopefully the floatingDrydock pans have hull lines.

All the best
Sandy

Which plans did you send for, Sandy?

This class of ships definately provide for many diorama ideas, don't they?

However you choose which ship to build, be it by name or history or configuration, etc., I can help to point out the particulars of that ship when compared to others. Or how about a USS Oyster Bay class PT Boat Tender?

Thank you, Pete!

I'd love to see any and all pics of the real ships and models of them!

The Iron Shipwrights, Inc. USS Mackinac AVP-13 kit is about $95 directly from them.

My BACK-AFT Models Conversion Set prices vary with the option of a BACK-AFT Models waterlined hull and/or with drawings of your choice. http://shop.back-aft.com/main.sc

Here are some fantail details that I've added recently. Depth Charge Racks are from the ISW kit's PE fret and those are one set of two types of my custom smoke screen generators.
