Well i will take one of those, one thing is for sure, if its made by L'Arsenal it is gonna be quality, start putting them euros away now in the Hr.Ms KarelDoorman pot, i counted out my loose coins i just put in my bed side drawer last week and i had enough to fund a little trip to my local hobby shop :woo_hoo: . My Father inlaw funded his entire vacation from his coin bottle. i hope some day L'Arsenal will work on 1/700 Post war HMS Eagle, Ark Royal and Victorious, ASFC has really made my mouth water with his build.

Here are a selection of Colossus class in Service with other countries that would in my opinion make good subjects to model........

HMAS Melbourne(Actually a Majestic class, almost identical to the Colossus)(thanks to ASFC)

Melbourne was a Majestic Class Carrier-not quite sure what the differences are yet!

Hiya ASFC,
Many thanks for putting that right, sorry if i mislead anyone, that will teach me not to skip paragraphs when researching.
The final 6 ships of the Colossus class were suspended and 5 completed as the Majestic class, incorporating improvements in flight deck design and habitability, Majestic and Colossus carriers were almost identical in hull design and the Majestics were considered as an improved colossus, many considered them as subclasses of the '1942 design' light aircraft carrier program.
I checked out the specufications and all are identical with the exception of displacement, which would be accounted for with the flightdeck and living area improvements.
So it sounds feasable that Majestic and Colossus can both be built from a Colossus kit or vice versa.

Thanks again ASFC, how is Victorious progressing ?

Slowly-I'm painting a few things before I glue them on, making sure I have ample supplies of stretched sprue before I continue, and working on the Airwing. The ship looks 'complete' (as was seen last week), but there are plenty of little jobs to do on it!

She certainly looked great last week, i am forever adding things on after looking at pics, i will be putting an order in at WEM for Buccaneers soon, i still have to decide which i will build, JFK is progressing well and Indy is in the background at the moment.

Hiya Mitch,
Do you really think that the Netherlands will have a Carrier, i had the impression that manpower was a problem in the Netherlands Navy as it is in the Royal Navy ? Den Helder would be the only option for a base, last time i was there i found a cool model shop just outside the base, they had the 1/350 Kortenaer and Karel Doorman Frigates.

JFK coming along nicely there.

The Dutch Navy is not getting a Carrier. Period. When their project for the Joint Support Ship started to replace one of their AOR's, a rumour started somewhere that they would buy a Helicopter Carrier like HMS Ocean. What they are actually buying is something closer to what the Canadians and New Zealand are after to replace their support ships, something which can do replishment at sea or command an Amphibious landing. To be fair to the Dutch Navy, although they have slashed their Frigate numbers, they have massively broadened what they are capable of doing in the past decade.

Here is what the Dutch are buying clicky.

This is what the Canadians were looking at:
Image

New Zealand wants a stretched version of this to replace Endeavour.

And I built this about 3 years ago based on the (rather basic) early CG impressions coming out of Holland:

(It is always good to use ones imagination sometimes! :cool_1: )

Don't get me wrong, I would be really happy if the Dutch Navy got a Helicopter Carrier like Ocean. But it is not going to happen.

Thanks ASFC for the compliments, and Wow :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: i Love that scratchbuild, Awesome indeed, do you intend scratching another when the final design is in service, reworking what you have built wouldnt take much, but i wouldnt go that route,

Yes i agree with you on the dutch carrier.

The imagination can and does come up with great things now and again, and thanks for sharing yours.

Probably-I build my ships to a fleet (like Nektarios) to keep my ship numbers at sane levels. I have an 'opening' for up to 12 Repleshiment vessels. Once I get beyond the British stuff, and building HMNZS Endeavour, I will have room for 5 more vessels-so yes I do intend one day to take one of those 'slots' for the future Zuiderkruis! (sp?)

That is the way i am going, i have 3 x BB's in the yard, New Jersey i am undecided on Vietnam or 80's fit

Here is a link to my HMS Exeter build, I served on 5 Type 42's, built numerous and i still do not have one in my fleet, i will build HMS Gloucester to accompany my Desert Storm ships.
