Re: At 'Em Arizona Fans!
Dragon has announced a late-war BB-38. No release date; the initial date; the initial CAD needs a lot of rework.

Doh, thanks guys! Yes I mean in 1/350 scale!dsk wrote:Not sure what you mean. Dragon already offers a 1/700 Arizona. I wish somebody would make a 1/350 or larger Pennsylvania, either Pearl Harbor era or late war.ArizonaBB39 wrote:Everyone else's builds are looking good too. Makes me want to buy the 1/200 kit myself! But I'll save my money for the Dragon Pennsylvania in the hopes if she sells well they'll make an Arizona some day

Re: At 'Em Arizona Fans!
Well, with the Trumpeter 1/200 kit I'm basically done building Arizonas after this. I don't see how I could top that one. To be truthful 1/350 is a better scale to work with, because the big 1/200 is so massive that the lack of finer details becomes more evident. I can think of a ton of things I could've added to mine if I was better at scratchbuilding, but I'd also still be working on it next Christmas. I want to add the 1/350 Pennsy to my stash once it comes out later this year, but as I've already got three Arizonas (the Trumpy 1/200, 1/720 Revell and 1/700 Hobby Boss) I think she's pretty well covered.

Gentlemen, after visiting the Arizona Memorial this week I discovered Stillwell's book in the gift shop for only $65!!! I had run out of money by the time I had visited so I couldn't grab one sadly
If you know anyone out here on Oahu or are heading here soon, head by the gift shop and grab one. They are brand new in shrink wrap. Just a heads up guys.

I just did that, and the very nice lady, Angel, still has at least one more copy. Goes to a good cause too.

You'd want to call her at the number that was listed above. Mind they are 4 hours behind.

Hello,
I was just wondering if this book would be a good one to add to my library. The book is The attack on Pearl Harbor strategy, combat, myths and deceptions by Alan D. Zimm.

I have an early copy of the manuscript I haven't managed to get through that far (shame on me), but I will vouch for Alan's character and dedication to the truth!
I think he has even posted here...

If you're a serious "student" of the attack on Pearl Harbor then you can never have too many books. I have pretty much every one ever printed, and they all have at least one tidbit of information or picture that isn't included in the others.
Hard to say what fascinates me about it so much, but I can't get enough of it when it comes to books and films.

I've got one that's a little off the beaten track:
"The Second Attack on Pearl Harbor- Operation K and other Japanese Attempts to Bomb America in World War 2" by Steve Horn.
Among other things, Dec. 7 was so well recorded, that it endures in so much detail.

One of the things I'll never figure out is how there are virtually no pictures of anything in Pearl Harbor in the weeks, days, hours, and minutes leading up to 7:50AM on December 7th, yet as soon as the bombs fell everybody and his cousin was busy snapping pictures. In fact, I almost feel there were more people shooting back with cameras than rifles!

Re: At 'Em Arizona Fans!
Does anyone know how the film of the Arizona exploding came to be? I know it what was shot from the USS Solace, but who was the cameraman? Has he told his story? Was he purposely shooting the
Arizona? Or was he shooting the West Virginia, which looked about to capsize? Of all the books I've read on Pearl Harbor, I can't recall reading about this mysterious cameraman.
