Weld-On 3 changed their formula and now it doesn't work very well with Evergreen plastic. Does any know of a suitable replacement with similar characteristics of the old Weld-On 3? I used to get Weld-On 3 in quarts or pints. Any suggestions appreciated.

I have no issues using Tamiya Extra Thin to melt together Evergreen plastics to each other and other styrene parts.

Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) should work on Styrene, but isn't great on Acrylic. And it can be purchased through Amazon!

Methylene Chloride, or DICHLOROMETHANE is being phased out of many products, You may still be able to get it, but for how long, I do not know.
You will have to go to a chemical supplier. The EPA has banned all consumer uses.

Weld-On has replaced it with a mixture that includes methyl methacrylate. It isn't as good for Styrenes, but is ok for Acrylics.

Other than that, try Plastruct Plastic Weld or Bondene,
or
Tamiya extra thin cement
Which is made up of:
Methyl ethyl ketone 20.0 ％
Ethyl acetate 40.0 ％
Acetone 40.0 ％

I used to use Plastic Weld, but discovered it had a tendency to migrate through plastic when drying and I would end up with distortions later. It looks like MEK is the best bet, but requires good ventilation.

Plastruct SDS states

Plastic weld is
Methylene Chloride*# (Dichloromethane) %80 - 90
Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) %5 – 15

Bondene is
Methylene Chloride*# (Dichloromethane) %30 - 60
Methyl Acetate %30 - 45

But who knows how long until they get changed.

You might be able to purchase from them in bulk.
