No need to pick on the Australians... It's more economical than building new ships... Anyway, If you're talking about the Newports, that would be effective. The ramp would be pretty annoying, but it's better than needing a fleet of Helos to move supplies around (Iwo class). Better yet, why not make some modern DUKWs? Amphibious trucks, well are just AWESOME!!!!! They wouldn't need to have much of a specialized transport, but anything with a crane or ramp. Also, why not make a small fleet (15 vessels) of some modern LSTs? except, as transports and hospital ships? More useful than the Helo transfer to a ship 15 miles off-shore.
