Venetian and French galleys differed in the Oar arrangement. 17 century French were "A Scallocia " 3 men,one bench to one big heavy oar, Medieval Venetian galleys were supposed to be "Alla Zenzile" (3 men, one bench but three separate oars). The Heller Reale De France kit is A Scallocia, correct for that type and time period. For other nationalities that is were to look for major differences.
