So much detail, love it. Always liked the look of the red main gun turret roofs.

Hi guys here, I'm back to continue this work.

The superstructure has been glued, because I had to do it for the next level (upper) of it.
Image

Image
This is the upper level. It's very tied with all the previous parts of the superstructure and this forced my to proceed to glue it. Hope I don't regret it forthe painting.

Image
In the meanwhile I've begun with the funnel.
Only one side of the longest barrels are glued.
Tomorrow will the glued the opposite side.

I've also opened all the pipes. I think it gives a better aspect and realism

see you next time!

Hi guys, I'm back.
I used this week for mounting machine guns/ Anti-aircraft guns

I have a doubt about the colour
Black or German grey?

Here is the picture of how it should be
Image

And here the 2 types

Tamiya black XF-1
Image

Tamiya German Grey XF-63
Image

Here both together
Image

From reality I can say with black many details disappear, but it seems to me closer to the picture.
So any suggestion?

It could also be gunmetal with these, anyway it doesn't look black on pictures.

Here the test with tamiya gun metal!

I don't know. It's a strange colour. It's depends if you take with the brush the metal part, or the darker one.

Little progresses on the lower part of the piece.
It was been difficult to match all little pieces, handrails ecc. but seems quite good.

Now let's start on the upper part

In the meanwhile the overall superstructure proceed with the details

Hi guys, here an update.
The main foward superstructure is closeto the end. Manydetails still missing like instruments (compass, binoculars, searchlight), weapons, handrails and radars ecc. but I think during this week I can come close completing them.

there's only big problem to solve:
That space beetween the upper part and the lower one.
Image

The 2 parts are not glued (dry placed only to see how they fit) and I have some doubts on about what to use to close the gap.
I woulddiscardthe cyanoacrylic because I'm sure it will not appear a clear work.

My idea is a little piece of plasticard.
Any other ideas?

Thanks to all

In the meantime I moved to the hangar behind the foward superstructure.
One is completed. Now I'm moving to the next one

Hi guys, here an update.

Everything painted. Now I'll proceed with the details like painting the footbrides or the wood supports of the ships

Try to remove the cause of that seam first. It might require some woodcutting or plastic milling.

Thanks Steven. It should be the wood. I will try with the cutter to remove a little part.

Hope not to damage the structure (usually if I work over and over on a piece, I damage it :doh_1: )

Hi all, foward superstructure almost completed, only few things miss before placing it on the hull (radars, 2 AA nearby the searchlight and 2 handrails).

I have followed Steven's suggestion about the wood and the gap really vanished. A bit of glue and paint and it almost disappears.
Maybe a foward photo without the light that increases the shadow can show it better.

Now a doubt: I'm beginning to assemble the funnel but for all those barrels I don't know what to do:

Image

-If I glue them before painting, it would certainly do a better job, but I would have some problems with the tape when I have to do the camouflage which won't stick well alongthe profiles. Then they would come off with the pressure to make the tape adhere well. As happened to me with the tall turret of the superstructure.

- If I paint before, doing also the camouflage and then I glue the PE and then paint them with the brush, they shouldn't come off. The problem (I'm not sure, but it is my doubt) in this case would be the thickness created with the 3 layers of paint (primer, base grey, and camouflage). Knowing how these PEs are very precise, I'm afraid that they won't fit with consequent risks of bending or broking them.

What's the best suggestion from who has better experience?

Thanks a lot

Some excellent PE skills you have!
Possibly too late my vote for th the AA is German grey if youre painting right out of the bottle and not trying to mix anything.

About the funnel I think you shouldn't worry and glue everything first. If the tape is pulling something loose that can always be corrected later. You can sometimes provide location holes in the funnel if some of the pins have an attachment to the PE fret.

One thing I was still missing from your last image is that black boot line.
