USS Arizona circa 1937
Greetings,
This is USS Arizona BB-39 circa 1937 built from the ancient 1/426 scale Revell 1957 tooling enhanced with 3d printed parts, photo etch, and much scratch building. Nothing easy in this build!
Following items included:
Revell 1/426 USS Arizona kit (2 kits)
Gold Medal Models photo etch set
3D Model parts 5 inch/51 caliber and 5 inch 25 caliber guns
Model Monkey Superstructure, 1931-1940
Model Monkey Anchors for pre-war US Navy Battleships
Modified/enhanced Revell kit parts
Extensive use of spare photo etch
Various item from spare parts bin
Black 100% silk thread and uni-caenis 20 den black thread
Primary reference, Battleship Arizona book by Paul Stillwell 1991 edition along with various internet references and 1/200 Trumpeter kit.
Revell kit parts that were used all required some modification. Tamiya, Mr. Color, various enamel paints, Krylon flat clear and Derwent watercolour pencils all used in this build.
Many thanks for having a look, question and comments always welcome.
Cheers,
Bill

Very nice indeed.
1930s US battleships really looked well.
A very fitting trubute to USS Arizona. I built that kit out of the box as a kid. It's scarcely recogniseable with all your added detail. You have done a lovely job on her.
