Yes! I discovered the Iowas had a platform there too as I was building my 1944 New Jersey, and then discovered I'd missed it on my Vietnam build and had to CAREFULLY add it on. I think I'll need to add it to my Korean "Police Action" NJ as well.

Odd that they have the door there but no platform.

As I have been told, the platform exists on their "deluxe" verison :)

This is looking really great! Hope you figured out the base. I bought the same keel blocks set from L'Arsenal for a USS Iowa build (converting the VF Missouri kit to the Iowa).
