when you get kicked out of a theater for screaming at the movie for its inaccuracies.

(note - this has not happened to me, but to one of my professors multiple times for multiple movies)

I positively love that - I have the special edition including the volume of plates and use it daily.

None of my friends (or anyone else for that matter) will watch the movie "Pearl Harbor" with me, because I sit there and point out every innacuracie in the attack (never saw it in theaters, lucky for everyone else

You know you are a history buff when, while watching Saving Private Ryan, you yell "Hey, the front sight on the MG-42 should be flipped up when it's firing!", or "The SS men never wore crew cuts!", or "It should have been P-47s, not P-51s in the end!".

...when you're watching a short film about made-up giant robots in WWII duking it out in 1943 and you point out that the Iowa class in the film is the modernized '80s version, not one of the WWII versions.

On a more serious note...
Every time I hear the song "Look upon the bright sides of life" from the movie "Life of Brian", I am reminded of when the destroyer HMS Sheffield was lost during the Falklands War 25 years ago, almost to the day.

When the surviving crew returned to England the captain was inteviewed by BBC TV upon arrival at Heathrow Airport. Asked about how he felt about the loss of his ship, he told the reporters of his fantastic crew and his love and admiration for them and their spirit. How they lost several of their shipmates, saw others injured, maimed and burned and cared for them, battled the raging fire... And when he finally had given the order to assemble on the fordeck in preparation to abandon the ship, these exhausted men while waiting to be airlifted by the helos, after all they just had been through, started singing "Look upon the bright sides of life"! The capain was visibly moved when he told this and tears were clearly seen in his eyes. I will never forget that interview!

When I read blatant inaccuracies in seemingly well informed (HAH!) articles in newspapers/magazines. eg: A local paper once stated that during WWII Liverpool had been SHELLED as well as bombed. I'll bet that was news to everyone!

In a magazine reading that the TV series 'Band of Brothers' (absolutely great I thought) was a spin off from 'Saving Private Ryan'. Eh?

Where do they get these buffoons? The local asylum?
