Worst part of the day was after we completed the task of plane guard, the skipper positioned the ship
(HMS Gloucester just of the Stbd quarter ready for a 30+ knot steam past, i was ready with camera's
and video recorder, heard the Rolls Royce Olympus flash up and build up power, then a big bang and
the engines died, we had blown the Port Olympus Gas Turbine, i never did get my pics of the Stbd side
:(

Next up will be from my day on Either JFK or Kitty, or other shots of Kitty, Connie or Truman, any
preferences just ask :thumbs_up_1:

John, superb photos!! Thanks for sharing them with us!

Perhaps these will bring back some fond memories for you of Connie.

Here are recent official US Navy photos of USS Constellation CV-64 from Navy NewsStand. These should prove very helpful to those building a model of the ship on her last deployment and decommissioning.

Warning to dial-up users: VERY LARGE FILES, long download times.

Where to get Coral Sea

Post by mmaresm »

Kidcurrie43, where did you get your Coral Sea decals?? Or did you make them yourself? I also want to do the ENTIRE USN A/C series, but you guys bet me to the punch (being married with 3 yr old), I don't have the amount of time to work on them. Nek, has given me A Lot of encourgement, and I hope to build just as well as you and Nek can build.

If you made them yourself, could I purchase a set for my Arii "Midway/convert Coral Sea".

Would like to see more detail of your "Mid/Coral convert" besides those 11 photos of your build.

Thanks for your time.

The Navy News Stand photos are nice, but some closer shots of the Sponsons and Catwalk details would be nice. I have quite a few photos but waterline shots are rare for the port side.

You have posted these without names. It would have been fun to try to ID the carrier by it's island. :lol_1:

Hiya M, I think i have more pics of the build somewhere on my comp, do you mean decals for the aircraft ? if so then yes i made them myself, just send me a sheet of decal paper that is able to be used on a laser printer,
any other help you need just ask, i build and paint at every opportunity i get, even whilst sat here chatting.

Hiya gtb, It looks awesome mate, really impressed with it, the deck really sets it off, the best weathered CV/CVN deck i have seen, Carriers are setting this place alight at the moment, i have worked on six tonight, Saratoga's Hangar deck is nearly complete, nearly finished the decals for her too.

Again mate well done, looks great. "Onwards and Upwards"
