Hiya Duncan,
Thats the Belknap Pole, its a anti collision aid/light, it came about after the JFK/Belknap collision hence the name. never actually found in models. hope that answers your question mate.

Hello

After many yeras to be away of building aircraft carriers I am back again. Just recently bought a few Like Hellers Illistrious/Colossus, Revell Saratoga, Foorestal and Ranger and of Trumpeter the Nimitz, Essex and Ticonderoga

Where I am still looking for is the Coral Sea which I build when I was 12years old Sadly this was many yeras ago ( 45) I still want to rebuild this but everytime when I see this on E bay I am too late or Too low also with the Long Beach How can I get those two please

Hi Wim, and Welcome, i hope you will be a frequent visitor, to answer your questions, at present there is no USS Coral Sea in Plastic, i converted mine from the ARII 1/800 USS Midway kit, it is still available, a 1/800 search on ebay may bring it up, it is available in resin in 1949 configuration in 1/700 scale, this is a HP-Models offering and a little expensive at �117.81 - $265.54 Euro170.00.
The Revell USS Long Beach can still be found, but if you want excellence, then i would go for the 1/700 JAG offering, at present available in the early configuration, but JAG are in the process of releasing an as retired version as well, check out http://www.jagcollective.com/LONGBEACH.htm

Hey Scotty, i finally found my USS Constellation pics, they are from April/May 1997 when Connie relieved USS Kitty Hawk in the Gulf, i hope that are of use for your needs............

I have achieved my aim then if you are enjoying the pics, they are here for enjoyment and hopefully assist some with their builds,
I have been lucky to have spent 26 years of my 32 years in the Royal Navy at sea, combining both career and hobby was a bonus, having spent days on the likes of USS Midway, JFK, Kitty Hawk and being along side the likes of Independence, Constellation or flying around the USS America and others really made life special.
I took the majority of the pics, if you look through Janes Fighting Ships from early 90's till 2003-4 you will see some of my pics in there as well. I am now shore based which now gives me time to scan and to share my collection. my non carrier pics are in Nektarios's (Postwar navy in 1/700) post.
I will see what i have on early Nimitz, any specific year ?

CVN68 period 1976~1980, nowadays its not hard to find NIMITZ pictures in todays configuration.

Cruisebooks do show a lot (crewmembers), but still the ships pictures don't reveal much. Old Kokufans ocasionnaly popsup with some.

Motion picture 'The Final countdown'is still one of my best reference.

Darren & Dan, provided me useful information aswell, here on the forum.

I've seen lots of the same pictures used in books and just seeing your pictures, tell me a diffrent story.

Just wished there was some kind of 'Detail&inScale' USS Nimitz.

i was inspired by your work and just went to the local HobbyTown USA and got a 1/720 USS John C. Stennis by Italeri. Also have them ordering a Trumpeter 1/700 USS Abraham Lincoln. Hopefully i can make them look half as good as yours.

Hi there Duster, thanks for the comments, i recommend you check out, Post-war navy in 1/700. by Nektarios, his 1/720 - 1/700 carriers will knock you out, combined with the GMM and Starfighter PE/Decals they look awesome.
