Les, thanks a lot for the input, but after some research I could more or less solve the problem.
Here you are a couple of pics of the construction at the present moment. The deck was at last painted in dark grey. If everything goes according to the schedule, the construction should be finished in the first week in january. Holly Molly, it was about time.

The construction is already in the final phase. Almost 90% of the elements are already set in place.
I have already finished one of the most delicate sections, the support cables of the stacks, something much more delicate to make than stanchions and lifelines, which are also made.

Although when covered most of the details will be darkened, the reason why it was not necessary to be too careful with the little details, such as phone boxes or lockers :

The splinter mats were carved with the X-acto # 11 blade and file, and were a bit laborious to make, as my fingers are not little enough to handle them comfortably. The sewings have been simulated with paint, as it was impossible for me to cut them onto the plastic.

Well, I think the thing is more or less finished.
Maybe there are some little details in paint to be retouched in next days, but little else.
The halyards for the signal flags are glued at the top and free at the base, what made the operation a bit easier, without offending realism. The rest of the rigging was not that easy, but was done without further problems.
This is basically what I wanted to do, and although this is HMS Caldwell, and for some unknown reason, this is the picture that actually inspired all the project :

I need to make a beautiful base, but all the process is to find a suitable chocolates plastic box, to take the lid, to glue on top of it the grey base that it now has and paint the whole in neutral grey. No problem at all, regarding construction.
So, all things considered, I hope you like the final product as it is now.
