Isn't retirement grand? I retired in April at age 42 from the NYPD and I had a 3-month holiday, then the boss sent me out for a new job. :mad_2: So while I get modeling time, it is sorely limited. BTW - those are 1/700 aircraft, right?

I will hopefully get a job if and when i get my Green card, mainly for the Medical cover, nothing stressful or too long hours.

Yep they are 1/700 aircraft, A-3, A-7 and F-8, the F-8's are from Fujimi the others are Trumpy, i have to add F-4, A-6, E-1 and SH-3's yet.

Happy Modeling

below is what is down on the first page of this Topic,

Welcome to the Carrier builders yard, where i hope we can all share with each other what we have on the Slipway, I build Carriers from the mid 70's to now, but lets have a starting point at the Korean War to now, my aim is to build every US Carrier from CV-41 to CVN-77.

So lets get this launched....

Well you may have noticed that the Modern has been removed from the title, that is all DML Dragons fault, it is now looking like being CV-1 - CVN-77 along with my collection of Carriers from other countries, anyways keep them coming.

Happy Modelling

John - I must say you're responsible for my excessive spending on 1/700 carriers. I'm now tied to a scale I swore off and about another 2-3 years worth of modeling without a break. Thanks anyway buddy! :thumbs_up_1:
If you look at my signature, I haven't even included the following:
1/700 USS Antietam (1953)
1/542 USS Bon Homme Richard (1967)
1/350 Admiral Kuznetsov
And let's not forget all those little planes on each one...
Let's keep this thread at the top guys...

I certainly intend to, once i get all the 1/720 ships completed, it should get easier(i hope), the aircraft take up lots of time when using starfighter decals(no complaints here though)keep them coming Mark :thumbs_up_1:

I think SPS-8 is similar to SX as for SR-2 maybe a SPN-6 or 10 will be easy to convert, i am sure you will find away around the prob :thumbs_up_1:

John: can't wait to see progress on your build. Couple of things: first, DON'T FORGET TO CUT THE HULL DOWN!!! All the added top weight caused them to sink a good deal resulting in a much greater draft. I don't have the exact dimensions on me at the moment. I found the easiest way to do this is to take a new X-acto blade and gouge out the waterline, and then run the whole thing over a piece a sand paper. Of course, it's a moot point if you have a belt sander. Second, if you need any plans, I have some for Oriskany, just keep in mind the differences. Most of all have fun, I know I am, no matter how much I complain :thumbs_up_1:

Happy Modeling,

Avery

John - great stuff!!! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: I just got my Arii 1/800 Midway, and I am guessing I'll just use it as is - if my math is right it's really just under 2 inches short for 1/700, but I think when it's done it will look alright. Thanks for the Midway pics back in the thread - they will come in handy. Still haven't been able to paint my Enterprise or Wasp island due to the cold cold. :pout:

Hey John, first let me say that all of your builds (1/700) are great. Second if have the old Plastic Ship Modeler 1995/2 and 1995/3 that Ray Bean did a xollent job on a 1/700 27c. Matter of fact this buildup was in the old Scale Ship Modeler magazine with color pics. Ray used a Hasegawa's 1/700 scale WW II Essex class to convert to a waterline Nam modeler. So you might want look that over and use all that good info. :thumbs_up_1: :wave_1:
