Re: Carrier Builders Yard, whats on the Slipway
John, very nice!!
Ok, Question time...
USS Hornet CV-8 "Doolittle Raider" need paint equivalent. Preferrably Model Masters but, may settle for Tamiya colors
I have a LHS now (HobbyTown USA) but, all they carry is MM and Tamiya
So, need the colors for the ship itself.
Tia,
Eddie

Re: Carrier Builders Yard, whats on the Slipway
Ah, these JFK builds are shaping up nicely!
Now, Victorious has been ploding along a bit more slowly, but here as promised is an update.
The ship has started to have her flight deck markings (masked and painted)-the big bit is done now and there are only a few stripes to do. The Island needs modding on the Starboard side-it had a deck house )similar to the ones which hold the CIWS on the Invinvcble class) The Island is just Dry fitted at the moment, but the area has been sanded of any molded part so I can move it over a tad.
The Boats Crane is part scratch built part re-use of the kit crane, and at the rear I'm adding some minor decks which (I presume) had something to do with the mirror landing system.
The photoetch railings need finishing and in one of the piccys you will find what is starting to resemble some Sea Vixens, for the Airwing (the Airwing will also include Wessexs and Scimitars, proper old skool
!)

Re: Carrier Builders Yard, whats on the Slipway
This where my Slipway will be built, it will be 20' x 20', undecided on foundation yet, would like a slab, but a raised floor would save on the pennies.

Here is the one we are just finishing off for my Father Inlaw, 24' x 24' with a lean too, i will not have the garage door as i would like to keep any dust down to a minimum.

I am so looking forward to this build, lots of display cabinet space, now where to put the Workbench
Happy modeling
John

Re: Carrier Builders Yard, whats on the Slipway
John - great idea about the garage doors. I wonder if my wife would be mad if we got rid of our garage doors...
